I don't forbid them, it's ok for few posts but the issue can be real if there is several pages of +1 where at the end no one is reading the thread because there is "nothing" to read (and so you loose the weight of the initial request or opinion). I just ask to take care on how you post (for the quality of the exchange), that's all

The issue i have with the "+1" is that it tends to incit people to simply add a +1 post without comments and then to have pages with only +1 posts. In that cas i prefer to see a poll than "flood" the forum with +1 posts.

Nice answer. That really hits the nail on the head in my opinion.
I could simple put a +1 after Cerovan's quote and show I agree with it, but I'd rather add a statement that says "I prefer not to have to skim past a bunch of +1's to get to the next opinion or fact in the topic". What would be cool is a way to click a button on a statement you agree with and have have a +1 with the users name (not even a full signature) attach to the end of the message.

+1 Demented, +1 Cerovan, +1 TheM.

But some things are simple opinions where many people have the exact same opinion. How to show support then? If there is no visible support it might seem like people dont like it

So a thumbs up button would solve this (or +1 button, or even -1/thumbs down button).

EDIT: also think about the wishlist thread, its flooded with quotes of other users where someone says that he likes that too, i think up/downvotes buttons would fit really good there, also to have an better overview.
