Re: Questions and answers
With SourceMod you can do everything(server-side).Cerovan wrote:And remember that the basis of Team Fortress 2 is Team Fortress, a mod for Quake and then a mod for Half-Life where one day Valve decided to hire to team behind this mod. And if we have to make a comparison between Team Fortress and Maniaplanet is that TF could have been a Title Pack if it has been made on Maniaplanet.
And there is now hundreds of thousands of players playing it everyday because it's a famous (now free-to-play) FPS powered by Valve. It has good (limited in number) gamemodes but the players are limited to what Valve has decided (there is no custom modes or real new weapons). Actually i think (and that's personnal) that TF2 has less content than Shootmania (weapons, modes and maps diversity).

Agree. But stats and achievements could be done on the server controller and manialink. I do not know why SM controllers do not implement stats. In TM you have various stats and with script mode its possible to track even more stats.--> Stats & achievements.
I agree this isnt for everyone. I can only speak for myself & my friends and they would all like it. On paper it sounds stupid, but people become happy if they earn/win something or when they have better stats than their friends. Thats how the brain works.
I hope nadeo also adds the Stadium signs (mostly dirt blocks) which are missing since the last updateIn next update the elite .bik video will be webm ^^.

There are ways to make stats for SM see for example:
http://tmrankings.com/stats/
For server controllers it can be done using information that is put inside the databases of example maniacontrol or expansion.

Absolutely agree here. Beginner players usually don't know the difference between the four standard weapons (where to get them, how to use them effectively, etc.), neither the basic movement knowledge such as stamina use or teleporting. During the first rounds of play, a small message at the bottom of the screen (like in TM, where it says where to respawn/backspace) should appear when touching a teleport block so players are not lost immediately and ragequit.novationx wrote: TUTORIALS
Nowadays almost every shooter has a shooting-range. A shooting-range would be awesome to play/test with your laser and find the right sens. You could even make it a challenge so people could share their experiences on the shooting-range with eachother.
"I did it in 27s 12ms" Try & beat me!
You can start the biggest add-campaign in the history of gaming, but if the game offers 0% explanation then most players will leave again. Tutorials = more players.
Sure, teasing players is always a nice and appreciated way of bringing new content to the players. However, I can understand Nadeo to focus on "finishing" all their stuff first and then announcing it to the community.novationx wrote: COMMUNICATION
A big update every 6months sounds good to me. But to make these 6months bearable we need some information now & then. Hylis said: Too much teasers would make the waiting look longer. How will 6months of silence feel? Probably even longer.
I respect Hylis's choices, but I hope he will change his mind. Sharing stuff & teasers is always fun and will always bring more good than bad. ( imo )
I'm wondering myself why we actually cannot gain any LP in the main Storm title anymore - probably because everything is split up into titlepacks anyway. Some years ago something called "Battle of champions" has been shown (was it on PGW? I don't remember anymore) - what's up with that?novationx wrote: MOTIVATION
--> LP is not enough.
I'm rank 312 in Storm since 2013. I never ever get any LP. The same goes for Elite. The only place that I get LP is on the MatchMaking servers. Maybe there are 1-2good reasons to do it like this but I can find 20reasons why this is bad.
Why can't I win LP on all servers?
+1. Since the beginning of Maniaplanet I never used planets, except for donating to competitions/servers or playing ManiaLoto. The planet system should definitely be reworked to give them an actual use in the game.novationx wrote: PLANETS
--> Useless ingame economy.
"Donate to a server" = most boring thing I ever heard
Cups are always nice. Seeing the two main competitive titles Stadium and Elite being pushed is great, but what about the other titles? Canyon, Valley, Combo/Siege? Quite rare to see competitions in those titles. Even if there are competitions, it's usually "only" for fun without real prizes - and that's what really attacts the competitive players.novationx wrote: CUPS
Ty NADEO. I think with the upcoming cups this "issue" is fixed.
Shouldn't be hard to implement and surely gives fresh players a better first impression of the game. Definitely agree here!novationx wrote: OTHER THINGS
- Loadingscreens: Make loading screens and show a random tip ( make it a long list of tips )

Re: Debate on Title Packs created by the community
It works the same as in TM. You have to find 90k servers to get up to 90k points. Those servers can be Battle or Siege.acceleracer_01 wrote: I'm wondering myself why we actually cannot gain any LP in the main Storm title anymore - probably because everything is split up into titlepacks anyway. For 100k points you gotta go onto a 100k server. Here in the forum is the list for those.
For some reason the serevrlist won't show you how many points you can gain on each server, so people have to write it into the server's name.

I thought these points are accounted to the respective title (Battle or Siege) instead of the main Storm title ;oUrinStein wrote: For 100k points you gotta go onto a 100k server. Here in the forum is the list for those.
Yup, Paragon is a good example - I just wonder for how long they will be able to provide actual prize money considering that many cups are being held regularly, all of them offering money. It's definitely going into the right direction though, which is goodUrinStein wrote: Paragon League

A titlepack that would be completely empty.Cerovan wrote: And remember that the basis of Team Fortress 2 is Team Fortress, a mod for Quake and then a mod for Half-Life where one day Valve decided to hire to team behind this mod. They update the game frequently with new content every month, new maps, new weapons and other new stuff, and the custom servers are not separated from the main server list because you need to download a "titlepack", variety is not a problem there.Cerovan wrote:And there is now hundreds of thousands of players playing it everyday because it's a famous (now free-to-play) FPS powered by Valve. That is an incredibly stupid excuse.Cerovan wrote: In 2000s you had to find the site hosting Team Fortress Classic, to know where install it on your PC (before the .exe version) and then you can start playing the game. Today you still have to open Steam (client or web version), search for the game (with its name), install it, launch it and browse the servers. It's not harder than open Maniaplanet, you directly arrive on the Title Pack list (thanks to the Store opened by default now) and choose which TP you want to play, at the end of the download you'll be invited to load a station and have the browser list opened right after that.
Haha, no.Cerovan wrote: It's as simple as TF2.
I don't see myself being forced to manually download a zip file containing custom content so I can join a custom server with a custom map or gamemodes, I also don't see TF2 having a bunch of titlepacks that the community must download so they can see the servers on the server list that uses any custom addition, you just find every server on one server list, regardless of being custom or not, and when you join a custom one you download the files to make the server functional for you, automaticly.
Titlepacks is just a terrible idea, we should atleast download the required content automaticly in-game when you click to join a server with custom objects, gamemodes, anything instead of having to find the titlepack somewhere in the forums, and be lucky to find someone to play with you, and every server should be on the same server list, or atleast with options like "Show only Custom Servers" "Show only Default Servers" "Show all"
Re: Debate on Title Packs created by the community
you see the servers from all titlepacks in one serverlist now...

Sorry, Siege is its own title now, that's true.acceleracer_01 wrote:I thought these points are accounted to the respective title (Battle or Siege) instead of the main Storm title ;o:
But Battle doesn't have a Title of its own, it's just a mode in Storm. Therefore you can get up to 100k points by playing battle. It's like in TM where you culd only get to 100k in Rounds mode.
I'm not gonna say it's good or bad, that's just the way it is.
