Hi,
following problem: when I directly connect my PC via LAN-cable to the router, everything works fine. When using WLAN, I can't connect to maniaplanet (it says timeout (error 12002) when trying to connect to mp05.maniaplanet.com) and I even can't reach the maniaplanet playerpage (same in Firefox and IE). The strange thing is that I seem to have no problems with any other pages and also my internet speed is the same in WLAN and LAN. I also tested the pings over windows terminal, but there everything works fine. I already cleared browser cache, dns-cache and cookies.
TMUF playerpage is also not reachable for me via WLAN, but I can connect to the game. The problem is that the connection then is super slow compared to LAN.
Do you have any further ideas?

Re: WLAN problems
is the WLAN perhaps to much restricted?
Some routers have additional firewall rules or settings, eg. DMZ, which should prevent different WLAN clients to "see" each other.
On your home WLAN, provided you're using WPA2 or better, and no one else (especially no foreigner) has access, you can disable some restrictions.
Possibly also the router has a bigger bandwith limitation for WLAN devices.
Or it is not well positioned and you cannot reach good transfer rates anyways.
How did you measure the speed?

Re: WLAN problems
try to ping mp05 and see reactions
Re: WLAN problems
Thx for you answer!
I tried a few more things and summarized all info I have by now:
- router: fritzbox 7390
- I use no DMZ
- encryption is WPA (mode WPA2 CCMP)
- I cleared browser cache, dns-cache and cookies
- I pinged player.trackmania.com, player.maniaplanet.com and mp05.maniaplanet.com in LAN and WLAN and see no difference (ping about 50)
- speed test with http://www.wieistmeineip.de/speedtest/ gives same result for LAN and WLAN
- WLAN signal strength is very good
- no difference in internet surfing between LAN and WLAN, but both playerpages not reachable via browsers (firefox, ie) in WLAN (adressing them directly by their ip also doesn't work -> so no DNS-problem I guess)
- I tried lower mtu values without any result
- I tried many other https sites, but they all worked fine
- when I start maniaplanet with WLAN and try to login with my profile the process is always interrupted by error 12002 when trying to connect to mp05.maniaplanet.com (no problem with LAN)
- when I start TMUF with WLAN I'm able to login, but it lasts very long to get to the menu and then everything is very slow (no problem with LAN)

Re: WLAN problems
did you try to start in LAN and when you logged in switch back to WLAN?
Re: WLAN problems
I now booted with LAN connection and then switched to WLAN, but this doesn't have an effect. Before I try out the game again I first want to get a connection to the playerpages.
Re: WLAN problems
Did you lauch ManiaPlanet with Admin rights after having switched to WLAN?
Probably the (Windows?) firewall is not setup properly for that connection, therefore check it also again.

Re: WLAN problems
I tried it now with admin rights and even without firewall, but still no effect. Somehow I have the feeling, that maniaplanet specific servers (and for sure others I don't know) block me when using wlan or extremely limit the transfer rate for some reason, but only when using a browser or trying to connect with maniaplanet over the game (pinging in command line is no problem).

Re: WLAN problems
Hi
Just a couple of suggestions here:
1. Is wps enabled in your wlan setup?
2. What's your antivirus doing? Does it have a firewall setting which might be blocking wireless connections for some reason and can the block be changed or disabled.?
3. Check that wlan is set as first connection option. Go to Start (or a DOS prompt), type "ncpa.cpl" (no quotes), and hit Enter. On the Network Connections dialog (window), hit Alt (to expose the menu bar), go to Advanced->Advanced Settings, and you’ll see a list of network connections. Make sure the wireless is listed first. Save and reboot.
Cheers

Re: WLAN problems
WPS on/off and antivirus on/of didn't make a difference. Wireless connection is also listed first. Is there anybody who can reach the playerpage with wlan?^^
