Integrate Items in .Pack.Gbx in TitlePack + other Feedback

Post by jui »

Hi,

When i try to integrate Items which are packed in a .Pack.Gbx in a Titlepack it only works when i do it like this

but it do not works when i try to integrate the .Pack.Gbx direct like this http://i.imgur.com/tcfhLl3.png

Is this supposed to work that way or is it some kind of bug?
Also when you integrate it the wrong way it blocks the items in the main Stadium. You see it in the editor menu but you can not place it. When integrated correct it works fine. Edit3: not in the main Title but in the Titlepack after you open the main Title once.

http://www.maniapark.com/ressource.php?id=2282 the items i made my test with. Source in description if needed.

Now other Feedback to Items creation.

I would really like if the grid in "Item Ghost mode" (press F4 a 2nd time) would be like 0.1 instead of 1 because then you could make a bigger default grid but still have a super small grid when needed.

<GridSnap VStep="1" /> and <Levitation VStep="1"/> seem kinda weird to me. It only works fine for me when they both have the same value.

I did not notice a difference when changing PivotSnap Distance to 0 from default and AutoRotation to true from default. Would be good to have the default value for these settings in the documentation.

Also it would be cool to add in documentation how to position your items in Blender. I found this information http://www.maniapark.com/forum/viewtopi ... 75&t=21285 2nd post and suddenly it made sense :D

Edit: Some button or shortcut to reload items from disk. I always have to restart Maniaplanet when i changed something.

Edit2: Let people open their maps in editor even when some items are missing. Bring the current error but still open the map. Right now if there is some kind of error with items maps are lost forever :(

Altogether i think the whole custom items works really well and are a very cool feature. :1010

I have a similar/worse problem with 3d car models. If I include a 3DModel.Skin.Pack.Gbx into my Title Pack, the model is not visible in the profile to select, in the editor or accessible from any map.
But if I include the model unpacked as ZIP file (e.g. 3DModel.zip), it is visible and accessible inside my Title Pack. But only if I directly open my Title Pack. If I open the main title first, than all my included car models are hidden and not accessible any more! :(

How to include 3D car models in a custom Title Pack, so they are always usable from the maps of my campaign? This is particularly important for theme/story maps.

Both works, but it does not look like. Because you need to delete or rename your local copy of the *.Pack.Gbx.

ManiaPlanet loads the local *.Pack.Gbx at start and fails to load the copy inside the Titel.Pack.Gbx again while loading the Title Pack. After this the first local instance doesn't work anymore. This looks like a bug to me and should be fixed.

A similar thing happens when playing a map online on a server inside a custom Title Pack. All mods (*.zip) and skins (*.jpg, *.dds) do not work, which the player has also stored locally.

Hmm my guess is that Skins and Mods in .Pack.Gbx are handled slightly different that items in .Pack.Gbx.
Two observations :
1. Skins and Mods in .Pack.Gbx does not seem to get unpacked like items Pack.Gbx. (The zip does not show up in game whereas the single items show up).

2. I have a titlepack installed which integrates items from a Pack.Gbx and i also have a local copy of the Pack.Gbx. And it works in custom titlepack and main title as it should (but only when integrated as single items).

I have no experience with Skins and Mods in .Pack.Gbx and titlepacks but its sounds like its a similar problem i had when integrate the whole Pack.Gbx but since Skins and Mods in .Pack.Gbx do not get unpacked there is no solution :?
