[TM2 - Key Registration Failed]

Post by Bergie »

Hi,

Past two days (after the Chase mode update) I've had the problem of "key registration failed" happening every single time I login to my account. Tried restarting Steam and that did not help either. Any idea why this all of a sudden is happening to me? It is quite frustrating :P

strange indeed.

locate your personal ManiaPlanet files somewhere in your documents, namely the folder ManiaPlanet\Config that contains game seetings and profile.

make a backup copy of <yourname>.Profile.Gbx e.g. in a ZIP file.
Delete the profile <yourname>.Profile.Gbx.

Start ManiaPlanet again, and use "Connect using existing user", there indicate your ManiaPlanet login and password.

Is it working again?

I would like to say it worked, but the contrary lol. Firstly I have another account, so I had to select profile and then sign in (manually writing login and password). Then I got the same message and even worse, my PC crashed :D

Should I delete the backup of my "old" profile.gbx?

Hm yes you can delete the backup.

Are you able to login at the player page? https://player.maniaplanet.com
Then you could try to download the standalone version of ManiaPlanet (just the minimal setup),
and try if you can login with that (same method, use existing account).

Logging in on the player page worked fine. Thing is, its not that im not able to connect to my account ingame, its just that I get a really old menu layout etc of the game (and also cant see any friends etc online).

Do you have any other application running at the moment? It looks like the internet ports are busy...
Close everything else, also check task bar tray application.

it can be anything from chat, p2p, download, video conferencing, news reader, etc.
like xfire, mumble, teamspeak, skype...

Well I tried through the standalone Maniaplanet and it worked (had to update though). I have auto updates for my steam games so I am ASSUMING it updated TM when Chase came out, however it is a possibility it didn't and thats what caused the issue. Tried on Steam again and the problem still exists. Will try re-installing to see if it works, and if it doesnt i'll just use the standalone from now on. Thanks!

Hm normally the update should be there on both sides.
At least you can play again, that's great
Please keep us updated how it works out with the Steam version in a few days. :)

 but it was working jsut a moment ago, right?

What did you do!?
Sure that you didn't launch any potentially blocking application?
Could also be XAMPP, you know?

Or are you not alone playing ManiaPlanet in your network?
