copy paste complete track problem.

Post by vish »

Hi guys

first of all if this post is in the wrong place or anything feel free to move it to the proper place
and i didn't find anything about this in the search function ether so if someone else know about a post like this plz link it :)

after that said now to the problem im having right now

i'm working on a 64*64 dirt track which is gonna be around 10 min long and i got the green light from another mapper (winter) to use one of he's tracks on my track ("inside my mind" http://tm.mania-exchange.com/tracks/410 ... de-my-mind )

the problem i'm having right now is when i try to copy paste that track onto my track 90% of it disappears

is there any way to get the complete track on to my track or do i need to rebuild it all on my track ?

The usage of the copy tool (the yellow highlighting of blocks) is a bit tricky, perhaps rotate the camera position to first check if you have really selected everything.

You could also try to copy it in levels. E.g. only the bottom part with pools and terraforming parts first, and in a second step the parts which are placed higher.

Perhaps you can copy a few portions which you find so amazing, and add your own stuff.
Doesn't it make much more fun to create own tracks instead of copying existing stuff?
You would deserve much more respect then!

Anyways it is not recommended to use the 64x64 base for regular Stadium tracks. This possibility was only created for the RPG mappers to allow them immersive maps without a disturbing stadium building.

i understand how you mean tmarc

ive made sure that i have everything highlighted and stuff but it doesn't wanna copy it all and when i try for fun to delete everything on the map when its highlighted it just removes the 90% that is gone when i copy paste it

can this have anything to do with the fact that winter used tmunlimiter when he build it for tmnf/tmu ?

and on the note of more respect and that this isnt a track im going to take all creds for at all ive asked some other mappers aswell if they want to build on it aswell so its not just me on this build but they dont really know how to fix this ether :)

i think the problem is copying a smaller track and trying to paste it in a larger one.

it would probably make it easier to do so if you 1st resize the smaller one to 64x64.
(problem being the resizing part :P )

Talking about the 64x64 template, TMarc. Why do you don't recommend it ? Are there any bugs ? And yeah... Valley would need a good damn fix for the forest (in terraforming), only a full map of forest make the game lags as heck! (sorry for vulgar vocabulary). Honestly, Valley would need a larger map... Somehow... Give us the choice ? Example :

Applies to : TM2 Valley, TM2 Canyon, TM2 Stadium

Template 16x16 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 24x24 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 32x32 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 48x48 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 64x64 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

OR as you did for Trackmania original :

Template 16x24 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 16x32 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 24x16 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 24x32 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 32x24 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

Template 32x64 > Sunset|Sunrise|Day|Night

etc... that was cool!

it's funny that here you're doubting my recommendation, and in the other thread you're complaining about the Valley forest... now you know why I don't recommend it...

a full map with 64x64 grid filled with road blocks can be a similar performance killer...
look at the PMC or FB''s race maps, already at normal Stadium grid size they are huge ;)

i didnt said : Put right now a larger template for valley lel!

I mean : Fix valley's forest problem first then let see if templates could be added.

Valley fix : dirt with no tree, trees are placeable items, same for rocks (new)

This is a different topic, and rather a suggestion for a new Valley block, and not a fix ;)

You were right: your problem comes from the use of tmunlimiter to build this map.
Unfortunately I don't see any other solution than rebuilding the map from scratch, using the official block mixing tool when necessary (which may be quite long due to the size of the map :? )
