Even in TM 90k servers are only allowed to have 12 slots. They also need to have maps that are at least 45s long and must be running in Rounds mode.
A competitive ladder needs rules. It would make sense to do the same for SM's modes as well.

Well you can't compare racing with shooting with any aspect. I'm planning a 100k normal siege rox vs laser in May aswell. I think that there the rules should be strict as 90k maps in TM are sometimes long enough but total crap and random.
I don't see this being a big deal for 90k, but 100k I understand.

Re: Siege 90k
I would say the competitiveness of the ladder are dictated by two sides: quality and quantity. The second of which is very much comparable to TM.
You see, back when there were 90k servers with LoL maps, being around 15s maybe, people could just farm points like crazy, since each map was over in no time at all. Therefore the maps have a minimum length now. How does that ranslate to Siege? Well, Siege maps need to have 5 CPs and not only 2. I don't really play any Siege, but I think that's the case on Siege maps nowadways anyway, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Another way to farm points is by playing on very full servers, where you will get a lot more points from a lot more people. That's why 90k servers in TM are 12 slots max, and in Siege it would proably make sense to limit the servers to 10 slots as that's the common competitive setting.
On the quality side the nuber of players is just as important. SM is just a spammy game and a 10v10 game is just lucky as hell, or at least a lot more luck based and out of control than a 5v5 is. The ladder should be about skill obviously.
The maps play their part here too and 100k servers should definitely obey some mappool rules. If that's the right thing to do for 90k servers as well, I think that should be for the Siege community to decide. *ehemNadeowhydon'tyoumakevotingsforthingsliketheseehem*

Re: Siege 90k
I have never seen a Siege map with 2 poles only, neither on a "normal" server, nor on a "fun" one. In other words, I think it is easier to farm points on a "normal" server if you are together with some other high ranked people (to maybe even boosting each other) since the maps are usually shorter/rounds take less time, compared to a "fun" map where you often have maps with 9 poles and the maximum rounds set to 8.UrinStein wrote:Well, Siege maps need to have 5 CPs and not only 2.
However I do agree that 90k/100k servers need certain rules to ensure "competitive" play, such as player limit or map choice. It works in TM and it will also work for Siege once there is a proper selection of different servers suited for every kind of player.
Re: Siege 90k
If I'm not mistaken the LP gain is based on rank of other players and amount of hits you get. Most fun maps I have played have been with like 32 people on maps that have heal pads. 16 players with 5 armors that can also heal those up, that's a lot of hits for defenders. I haven't been on a fun server for a long time so I don't know what kind of maps are there now, but there used to be a lot of one way maps where you can stand in one spot and spam to get a lot of hits.acceleracer_01 wrote:I have never seen a Siege map with 2 poles only, neither on a "normal" server, nor on a "fun" one. The 100k servers will most likely have rules for player limit since they had in the old siege title. In my opinion any server over 80k should have these rules to have a more competitive ladder. Now it's just level grinding.
(I think siege has a minimum of 5 poles)
Re: Siege 90k
I am actualy playing as much fun siege as "normal" siege and i can tell you the number of lp you earn is nearly the same. If I win a map on a full 5 vs 5 ssm server with good ranked players I currently earn round about 20 lp. If i win on a fun siege map with 32 players (maybe 2 or 3 high ranked palyers, cuase there are not that much high rank palyers palying fun siege) what takes 2 times as much time as a "normal" siege map, I earn round about 40 lp. You see farming lp isn´t real in fun siege.
There is another point I would like the point out. We are always crying about the low number of new palyers in sm who stay playing. Well i noticed a high number of new palyers in fun siege and you can see them coming online on the next days aswell. I think thats becasue they actualy see a chance to earn some hits even against high ranked players and they have a feeling of success which they maybe don´t have in "normal" siege or elite where there just get rekt by high skilled palyers.
So it would acutaly be smart to support fun siege so the number of new players keep rising. So 90k fun siege server are a good deal, so high ranked palyers like riolu (sry bro, but you are the best example right now
) don´t lose interest in playing fun siege because they don´t earn lp anymore.
In the end the lp were never the best way to show the skill of a palyer, so let everybody play would he likes to play so everybody is happy

2* In that given case - I can't see the need for 80-90K (fun)

Re: Siege 90k
I do indeed not care about lp so much, so yes I don´t care if there are 90k fun server or not, but there are othere palyers who care about lp. So maybe they would stop palying fun siege because they won´t get lp anymore and that wouldn´t be that cool for me and for fun siege in general. Like i said before supporting fun siege would be smart, so in the end I would say there is a need for 90k funweerwolf wrote:2* In that given case - I can't see the need for 80-90K (fun)

Re: Siege 90k
Well, can't lose points in siege anyways so the ladder is pointless either way. Might as well make a 100k "1-way" server.
