Re: No new accounts on Matchmaking Silver/Gold please
Thx for the statement
good to know someone is actually reading this ^^ We just want to improve the quality (not the level) of the players/game

I have to agree with you.Cerovan wrote: There is no good solution preventing the creation of an account.
If we do with the IP, what about the house with several PCs, or at the workplace, in a school or any public place?
If we do with email, it takes 5min to create a new email and then to create a new Maniaplanet account.
And finally if we put a hardware id associated with each account, what about the families sharing the same computer to play?
And im against making it harder to create a new acc, we already have not enough players to use all possibilitys of this game. why make it hard to create accs and maybe loose potential new players because they aren't able to create accs. I think that would be bad.
BTW trolls will always find ways to troll

You didn't get the point. Where are the potential new players? Let the same person create many accounts for smurf/troll/whatever purposes on the same computer would not increase playerbase, in fact the feeling would be the contrary: More accounts same players. And the feeling of worst player quality. It's not "making it harder to create new accounts" it's make it harder for the same player/computer to make multiple accounts... A limit of 2 max free accounts on one computer is fair. Considering more than that would mean you like the game and should buy it. Of course, if you buy a license/key you can register more accounts but that's a filter to prevent multiple smurfs, trolls.
Yet I understand there might be 1% of cases in which someone has 4 freemium accounts registered on the same computer for 4 persons to play in different times, it's ok. But most of the cases it's smurfs/trolls reaching gold then creating new free account with random login again and again. this ladder is then compromised, account number is compromised, playerbase is compromised etc.
A good combination imo would be:
- IP block = bad (multiple accounts on same IP should be allowed) (unless for ban purposes)
- email filter = good, 1 email, 1 account. (as usual on most games)
- One maniaplanet installation = max 1-2 free accounts registrations possibilities. based on hwid (also can be used for ban purposes) (no limit to bought licenses/keys)
- Block players by ladder and by wins number. (to prevent newbies lucky rushers on gold servers)
Re: No new accounts on Matchmaking Silver/Gold please
@BigG :
Having trolls/insults/rushers will have a bad effect on the playerbase. So your entire arguement isn't valid ( to me ).
New players will be able to register for a new account as easy as you and me... so there is no problem for actual new new new players.
In this thread we're talking about smurfs ( aka : players with multiple accounts trying to be cool and anonymous ).
@NADEO :
"This email address is already in use" should be a minimum. I know I can make new email addresses in 5minutes, but for a lot of potenial smurfs this could already be a reason to not create a 2nd account.
You should think about what could be the possible disadvantages to have this in place :
- Time to make this extra security?
- Other disadvantages?
If it has no other disadvantages then this would be a good first step to fix this problem.

Totally agreed... I guess the hardest part of this is to figure out how to deal with the already existing accounts which share the same e-mail adress.novationx wrote:@NADEO :

I dont understand why this wasnt in place since the beginning... It's a standard security measurement
