I understand. :thx:

EDIT:
I love TM and just get a bit frustrated with all the bashing. I understand it, but I also understand solutions are tough to properly implement especially while expanding.

It sounds like if Trackmania Turbo was only for console, the quantity of discussions would be lower. But while it may be communication mistake, I still believe that PC owner that does not have a console will be much happier that it exists on PC. It's as simple as that for me.

And, yes, I think there are some points that are underestimated in some feedbacks:
+ The size of the team has been increased to make this title, and it will benefit a lot Maniaplanet on the long run.
+ There is a new environment coming, as well as many updates for Maniaplanet (including a big API improvement for Trackmania future)
+ The audience is 50% higher than a year ago in a super competitive area and without major updates
+ We may give "Lagoon" or any other environment to Trackmania Turbo owners, even if they are on consoles.
+ It is sure that Trackmania Turbo will bring more awareness to Trackmania.
+ Ubisoft is behind us for a long time ahead for Maniaplanet
+ We just released the info about the world cup.

TheM, I explained how much Maniaplanet means to us. We work full time. So, I just think it's cool to see how much the team is working for Trackmania, after we started 13 years ago. As I told you in the other topic, it looks like not enough people understand first before being negative. In your oppinion, if we care so much in Maniaplanet to invest so much time and energy, why would we not be allied? How can we be so dedicated since so many years and don't even think twice with our brain that are probably functionning correctly if we did a game that you like?

I'm not the hardcore TM player I once was. If I were, I might be as worried as others here about the community being split again.

But these days I'm just a casual player. And I am excited to play Trackmania Turbo! I preordered it as soon as I saw the trailer.

New environments are always fun to learn. Can't wait to play Lagoon! The ability for two people to drive the same car with two controllers is a fantastic idea. It sounds like it will be a barrel of laughs and bring many hours of fun, especially for console players.

Thanks Nadeo for continuing to develop fun games! :pil

Just want to say, amongst all the comments from people who think they are pseudo managers of Nadeo..... forget all that shit... the Lagoon clips looked really awesome, some draw dropping retro TM feeling going on there, and I can't wait to try it whether in TMT or MP, I don't care which, just give me a controller and a few hours with the map editor!!!

I fear this will divide the community more than it will unite it.

1. What is going to happen for all of the TM2 players that already own Canyon, Valley, and Stadium? I know you said you would do something special for people who already owned them, but honestly if it's anything short of giving us the TMT envis for free, you're going to loose players from TM2. So even if you do advertise TMT, the TM2 community is going to die.

2. Let me get this strait: You want to revive the community, so you're making a standalone remade version of the same games everyone already plays, are making them pay for it (from the sounds of it), and hoping you can drag over a bunch of players from TM2? WHAT!? Am I the only person who thinks that makes NO sense? "Oh man, the community is dying in TM2 because the players are being split by it's bad layout.... Lets completely split it by making a stand alone game!" Unless 100% of the TM2 players come over to TMT, you're killing the community! My prediction: Any player that was already pretty inactive/thinking about being inactive will just say "Hell with it" and just forget Trackmania altogether. Lets say that's 10% of people (even though you and I both know it's more than that). Now let's subtract all of the people who are going to be pissed that you're making them pay for the same stuff again: another 10%. Ok, now let's subtract all of the people who are die hard TM2 players, like the current arrangement, and really don't see anything appetizing in TMT: another 10%. Honestly I think I'm being conservative here, and already you're looking at loosing 30% of all players from TM2 because of TMT. Either way, something's got to give. You're taking an already dying fire, poking it will a stick, and separating it into 2 piles. You don't think that is going to kill the fire? And on top of that, let's add some wet wood onto one of the piles (All the noobs that will join because of consoles). You and I both know that you have to have experts to teach all of noobs coming in. They'll figure out the racing eventually, but the creative community will be dead. Say goodbye to all the skin makers, the 3D modelers, the video makers. In an already dying community, how many players are going to join TMT and then have the motivation to go around making tutorials/teaching all the new players that join TMT? My point is, if you had played your moves right, you might have been able to salvage the TM2 community and getting it going again. But by splitting the community into 2 separate places, you're going to end up killing both communities. Anyone who stays in TM2 (which I probably will), will see a massive drop in players, killing the community even more. Anyone who goes to TMT, will have to put in a ton of time and effort to teach any newcomers from console, otherwise their creative community will die too.

My prediction: 1st: The split causes the TM2 community to die. 2nd: The TMT community will grow for a while because of console players, but right after the hype is over, it will start to decline too. 3rd: As the amount of experienced players gets lower in TMT, you will be stuck with a very young community with very few creative members. 4th: TMT will start to die as well because there is nothing to motivate them to keep playing.

I honestly hope that I am wrong for the sake of the community, and I hope that this jumpstarts it again and it can be like it was during the nations glory days. Unfortunately, I doubt that will ever happen.

Honest question: What did you think this would accomplish? Were you expecting the entire TM2 community to jump over to TM2, mix with the TMT console players, and start a larger community? Or did you think there were enough players to keep both games alive? I think we both know that something has got to die for this to work, what do you think it will be?

Good luck,
Zack11

Good post Hylis. What worried me most while watching the livestream yesterday was this:

During the livestream I was already looking for the cheapest PS4 around until I realized TMT is also being released for PC :roflol:

I've been passionate about TrackMania for quite some time now (9 years this October). I've been with you guys all along those years. I felt with the release of ManiaPlanet that it was a good move, it would improve creativity and it would allow people to play the environments they like. Even though you say that the playeramount has nicely improved over the last year, it's hardly noticeable in-game. You must've seen some of the figures that have come by in this topic.

It's just very hard for me to keep as optimistic and passionate about the game, by the way that you are not sharing your vision and give some information then, some a bit later and other things are still unclear.

ManiaPlanet is supposed to be an ever evolving platform, not only because of UGC, but also because of constant updates to environments to improve them and make them more appealing to the public. You know that Valley is (almost) dead, Canyon and Stadium both have "decent" amount of players but it's nothing compared to the "good old days" ...

Will it be possible to start dedicated servers for TMT? (PC, Xbox, PS4)
And is it divided by Xbox, PS4 and PC players or can all people play togehter?

That's a bit too simple, isn't it? Instead of trying to create one game for everyone, your main argument sounds like a - "well, at least this new game won't make Maniaplanet smaller".

(It most likely will make MP smaller by the way, because a lot of casual players will just switch to the TMT)

Why not TM Turbo for consoles and just Lagoon for PC as a main title for maniaplanet ?

The old titles (stad, valley and canyon) could be updated with the new elements (all the players still playing these games deserve that i think...)

And everyone happy :)
