Oh, so are you saying that the reason to buy TMT is that when lagoon comes to TM2 and TMT it will be free?

Hylis, is there any chance that Maniaplanet will receive the TMO and Sunrise environments? I would buy them all again because - as you've said - Maniaplanet is the newest version which receives all the updates etc and I have all the environments in one place.

I suppose then the people responsible for this at Ubisoft are well aware of what you are saying if there are many places online that talk about this, but it's good that I know as well for me to ask some questions on the occasion. Thank you for pointing that out (can't tell I can do something)
Alright, I guess that means nothing will be changed about the way this game will be published by Ubisoft. Great stuff as always, 0/10 would not buy. Thank you for your answers.

No. They are made originally 10 years ago, and there's nothing wrong having them in TMU. If that happened, everybody would just say "why to make them again because we already have TMU lol Nadeo is so retard" etc. TMUF is close to a perfect game, and will stay like one - at least to me. We can still enjoy it. I think many other game companies would have shut down the servers of TMU already and forgetting the whole game, but Nadeo doesn't (and hopefully won't either ^^).
Toninus wrote:Why would they wanna play on MP when they can have the same game in TM Turbo ? For some user-made random quality textures and rocks ?
As good as Bethesda selling mods on Steam to me
TMT is a standalone game mostly for consoles, but will also have a PC version being same with consoles. MP is the main game for PC kinda. As Hylis has said, MP will be evolving and getting bigger, while TMT will be out and stay pretty much like that afterwards. TMT is like an arcade version of MP's TM.

And if RPG titlepack etc are random quality to you, pls, they're damn awesome. The MP's point in TM is that the players can do pretty much ANYTHING in it.

Hylis wrote:Toninus, if there is environment that they like in TMT, they will have the same on Maniaplanet for free, including what you call "user-made random quality textures and rocks" but that I call good tools, services & awesome use of them by great players, such as what they do for dedicated servers, modes, titles, competitions, news, skins and sites. If a player play TMT and very much like one environment, he will be able to go play the same environment, updated in Maniaplanet 4, for free, with another campaign, create even more freely or go online for all the know how of the community. It's even a little like when people where saying the ones with Original & Sunrise would not go on United. I know it was difficult, but the logic of being able to make update was there as well. Maniaplanet is the place of updates, console is the place of the standalone package and PC is where you can find a lot of things, including this version.
Well as we still doesn't know what will not be in TMT, I can't say much more on this, but to me the essence on the game is mostly fun gameplay + fun environments + crazy user-made tracks. Which is wah TMT seems to bring, for a fair price and instant fun. It just need dedicated servers and a track-sharing platform, some way to join friends via Steam / Uplay / Xbox Live / PSN, and all the essentials things are here.
Also do you know lots of console games have patches and DLCs now, so I can't say why TMT wouldn't have a new environment or content update one day. Especially if we get something like 75% players on Turbo and 25% on MP (which seems logical to me)...
Also notice that most players prefer to pay and play finished (and sometimes unfinished) games than tools (look at all powerful game engines becoming free). People have no problems buying a "new" CoD every year. But Maniaplanet is IMO too "obscure" and that's why it is not as popular as previous games were. Also if we know Maniaplanet will evolve, we never now what to expect next... And beig too random doesn't help for advertising and popularity.

Except now it's going the other way, like people moving from United to Original or Sunrise (less environments, old school mods...) Anyway I will have both, but... I'm not sure to launch MP again if I can play with friends on a fun server and new tracks everyday on Turbo. the track editor already allows to do lots of things, from short to long or trial tracks, which means we will have these on Turbo as well... To me Turbo is the kind of "Back to basics" TM needed. People who wanna tweak things will, no matter what the game really allows (like unlimited hexa editor before, and other games that are modded while not been made for...)

Im still confident, i will end buying them all at the end of the day. :roflol:

Already got my money ready for Turbo and will get my money ready for Lagoon again in 2016 (Although, i agree that making it free for TMT owners is a nice idea).

I can understand lots of your guys points, but i guess at the end of the day (release) we will all be satisfied.

(Also, yes, im feeling kinda bad for all this Hylis this, Nadeo that but, i know that is feedback, so its to be expected)

I already have all TM2 envis, so I'll buy TMT for sure because it's more what I expect from a TM game, and will get Lagoon in MP aswell.

But to me, Maniaplanet was kinda a fail, and its best features better be integrated to TMMT rather than continue developping it while most of the players will be on TMT. It's better to put tools in a game than putting games in the tool.

I know, TM2 environments took long time to create, because of improved visuals, handling and all that stuff. So Maniaplanet first reason was to gather them as they came up. Now that we have a solid base of 4 environments, what is Maniaplanet portal for ? Linking TM2 and SM ? Except for friendlist (Steam can do it as well), manialinks, and some videos with SM guys running on TM tracks, I don't get the point.

So lets try to include most of Maniaplanet ideas into a TM game. Ideal menu would be like :

Solo
- official campaign
- custom campaigns
- custom tracks
Multiplayer
- servers with friends
- other browser options (servers with eventual dlc only for example)
- create server
Editors
- track editor
- replay / video editor
Custom modes (PC only ?)
- list of title packs owned
Marketplace
- tracks
- car skins / models
- title packs (texture sets, custom scripts...)
Options
- personnal (car skin, horn, nickname, avatar...)
- controls
- graphics
Advanced tools (PC only) :
- maniascript
- manialink editor
- title pack creation

Unfortunately, Toninus, and please don't take this the wrong way, but you're confirming suspicions of a community split, but you're really asking Nadeo to rebuild ManiaPlanet in TMT. Instead, it might be wiser to suggest what you feel is broken about ManiaPlanet and have them fix it there. TrackMania has always been a PC thing... to make it go console-only would be a fail like unto the Motocross Madness series back in the early 2000's.

I would seriously hate to see that happen.

I'm all for getting console-only players excited about TrackMania, but I like the longer-term strategy of getting them to come to the PC community and play with us there. That may not make sense to others, but I agree with Hylis when he talks about the PC platform lending itself much better to all that the community does and extends the TrackMania (and ShootMania) universes with.

-------

On another note, someone said earlier that it doesn't matter that all companies have a Steam-like engine for their content now... except it does when someone buys a Ubisoft game on Steam that requires now that BOTH Steam and Uplay are running in order to play the game. I as a gamer should NEVER be required to run a separate executable to play my game. If I want to for extra features like Achievements or a one-stop launch center for convenience, etc, great, but it should never be required. But it is most certainly unacceptable to be required to run 2 separate executables as well as the game itself. But I guess that is a discussion for another thread. It is still relevant in the fact that I hope TMT will NOT be tied to Uplay. I really hope I can just launch the TMT executable and play without Uplay running. :pil
