TM Valley - worth it?

Post by Sheza »

Yo,

So when Valley came out I wrote a post saying how annoyed I was that Nadeo seemingly broke their promise that TM2 canyon would receive other updates for free. Myself and probably many other players were under the impression that the long awaited Trackmania 2 would release with 1 environment first, then the others would be included for free/ Instead TM2 was renamed TM2 Canyon and further environments were released separately.

I knew this was a disaster and it looks like I was right: These days nobody plays Valley. Usually less than 100 players. Even Canyon is quiet.

But I had the chance to demo Valley this week and I love it, the environment is awesome. The thing is, with so little players, and TM2 Turbo coming out later this year (guys - what's the deal with that, does it come with Canyon and Valley already?) I'm wondering if it's worth paying the £15 on Steam for?

Let me know.

I wouldn't say nobody plays Valley typically there is 1 or 2 active servers all day.
Turbo will have Valley and Canyon and also Stadium and Lagoon but it will be "different experience" than maniaplanet.
If you like playing the Solo Maps then i would say it is worth. If you only want to play multiplayer maybe. You have to decide for yourself.

TM2 Canyon was always TM2 Canyon it never got renamed. And Nadeo never said the other envis will be free updates. :)

A different experience - kinda the whole turbo boost thing I guess. So they're going to release Lagoon in Q1 2016 for yet another 20 euros, and it will be separate to the TM Turbo? Talk about a split! Who's gonna stay and who's gonna go with Turbo?

I like playing the single player maps but my god is it a pain in the ass to navigate the menus for them! A 30 second track I complete and then if I want to move on I have to exit, select the next one, load in, select, start again... EVERY 30 seconds!

Nadeo are not good at interface design lol.

Go for Turbo man, you'll get all the environments in one game like you wanted.

Why don't you try it out yourself?
Although Stadium has free multiplayer demo until September (or perhaps even longer, until TMT gets released), also Canyon and Valley are in demo mode for the first 48h, and then only 1 or 2h gameplay each day.

I have tried it - I said in my OP.

I like it. But I don't know if it's worth the money it asks of me, especially since Turbo will have all 4 environments and TM2 Valley on its own is not popular with players.

TMT is not maniaplanet :!:
Perhaps some people who like TMT will later switch to maniaplanet because the possibilities are more here (and if they don't prefer the new Turbo visuals), but this can never be garanteed.

If you like it, then purchase it, take profit of the current summer sales (e.g on Steam or Ubisoft shop)
And also think of this: only if you have all 3 original titles, you will be allowed to use the mix Trackmania² title on the long term. Otherwise you risk that you cannot play on a mix server too long.

And also have a look at tipiizors new blocks in the title "TM Plus"
