That discussion got a little heated.
:o
My personal view on this is...
It's my understanding that Maniaplanet was created and intended as a launch program for the main Nadeo games; TM, SM & QM. So, for me having to launch anything else first is just another unnecessary hoop to go through and more to slow down my system. However, with that said it's also my understanding that, while I wish it was, TMT is not part of the MP system so...?
I can also say that I will not buy ANY game that I have to launch through Steam, Uplay or any other launch system and if in the future ALL games follow that format, I will become Retro Man and only play the older stuff.
Those systems are loved by some and hated by others but, I've had enough frustrations with them in the past that they are an automatic no from me.

Well said. I agree totally with demented - his words could have come straight from my own brain. When I buy a game - or any software - I have a deal with the manufacturer, not with some third party 'system hyjacking' company.

I have really disliked the 'intrusion' of these add-on launch systems and will no doubt eventually join him in RetroLand.
:D :?

I absolutely agree to with both of you, i'm already in RetroLand... no Steam, Origin, Uplay... anymore. And that feels good. 8-)

Dito. It even made me uninstall most of my games.
The neverending waiting game has to stop.

on steam support forums i read there will also be a lagoon for tm2 (maniaplanet) released next year..

Except that, if there should be a huge amount of players playing TMT, you will be disconnected from that player base.

Well yes Lagoon will be out next year for Maniaplanet, and that's what I'll likely wait for and purchase, but I would have likely purchased TMT also if it was playable through MP just because it's going to have the other existing environments also with a different look, feel and game play. It's my understanding that it's not the same Canyon, Valley, Stadium and Lagoon that MP will have. However I'm not willing to register a 3rd party launcher to play it.

you're saying the solution is not playing TMT, that's not a solution at all.

i don't think potential new players that have no attachment to the series are going to like it, at 40 dollars too, they would have no problem looking for another racing game, it sounds hyperbole until you realize how much hated it has attracted thanks to nonsense like always online drm, who knows trackmania will end up the same way.

People are intentionally hypochondric to the point of unreasonable thoughts against these programs.

Yes it's annoying, I remember that when origin started, I thought like: ... oh really, do we need another of these things.

Steam came out in an era where running multiple tsrs and virsus scanners or other stuff might hiccup your system because of non multicore CPU's and little ram.

But nowadays, we have huge amounts of RAM, and for any decent PC, running such a tool will be like throwing a hairpin inside a pond.

I admit there's some problems involved with all these conflicting overlays. I can't stream watch dogs from steam, and you can't enable streaming on steam on lots of uplay game when they are 32bit,

I just disable uplay's and origin's overlay. I only use steam's.

Honestly, I hope this would be solved with dx12, and when every game is going to be 64bit, I think we'll get less problems like this.

But that's about the only real annoying problem there is nowadays.

Any "drm" pc "infection" is just a weird paranoid perception that people have, that the myth is kept alive that DRM will destroy your system. We've long past the starforce over-read debacle that happened on certain outdated burners, Now, most of the drm uses either your account, or a machine challange (or both, in combination). Which is more efficient.

Us musicians, we still have to use hardware dongles for many products, but it's getting better, I guess thats why I'm used to these things.
