Xbox 360 Steering issues in TM2/Tmnf

Post by DamnESU »

Hello community,

My name is Damn and i play for Team esu. I experienced some issues with my xbox 360-USB pad in the past.
If i use the basic TM Pad settings -
Analog sensitivity: 1
Deadzone: 0.1
i´m not able to do tight turnes as some other players. If i raise my Analog sensitivity(around 1.3) it´s working most of the time, but is still kind of inconsistent.
Jumper helped me out recording some footage on a benchmark map he created, both of us used the Tm pad basic settings and you can clearly see the difference:

Besides the higher turning cirle, that i experience, there is also a big inconsistence between the differnt runs. As you can see the right and left turn are in some different angles and this angles vary from run to run.
The Pad seems not to be the problem. Just got a new 36 pad as my old one "broke".

I hope you can give me some advise.
Damn :)

This is a known issue with the Xbox 360 game-pad. Some people are fine with just raising the sensitivity to fix it, but as I was used to playing with old Logitech gamepads (Rumblepad 2 and Dual Action) which acted much differently I wasn't happy with the game-pad at first when I got. So the solution I found was to install a custom-driver which makes it possible to change the deadzone calculation to being just four directions, and also expanding it to work as a square instead of a circle which makes it easier to steer fully and makes it function more like the old Logitech gamepads did. But to get the full effect you also need to tweak the deadzone a bit more which luckily the driver allows you to do. It works a bit differently depending if you're playing TMNF/TMUF or TM2 (Stadium) so I have slightly different settings depending on what game I'm playing.

In this FAQ you'll find how to download and install it, and also pictures of my settings: http://pastebin.com/MKuLDm9y - only problem with it is that it seems like it only works if you have Windows 7 installed, but I can't confirm that since I've never tried installing it myself in any other OS.

That's odd. It definitely fixed it for me and for many others. Maybe you just got a faulty pad or something.
