I don't know what you were expecting, but Turbo = basically 4 MP environments/games, so it's not that surprising in the end.lebossnico1001 wrote:Meanwhile MP is only 1gb max per game

Re: Questions & Answers Trackmania Turbo
But Turbo has another engine and maniaplanet never will have the turbo-functions and turbo never the maniaplanet-functions. It's an game for newbies or humans, who need loud sounds and textures in all colors. No critism, i preordered it too.
But how will be ManiaPlanet, if a Ubisoft-Studio with 40 humans works 2-3 years on Trackmania Turbo? I think alone it takes a lot of time. And now, it would be better to simply include the community, because TMT isn't community-based. It's ilegal to change the game-data because the files are on ubisoft-servers, so we NEED internet for it. We can't share the tracks online, just ingame.. Btw: How? Will there be a store? What are the credits at the e3-footage?
I hope you do anything from the game, because it's not our classical TrackMania. I know it's for consoles and my informations are from december, so it will be a bit different at the release, but WHAT feature is new in the game? And I'm sure it's possible to create an easy track-editor. Some friends have the closed-beta and nobody (yes, nobody) was happy after mapping. At almost all descriptions is available: "Build amazing tracks with the track-editor, play it with your friends and share it."
Is that all? The other texts are not important, because there are only the features from TM² etc...
Amazing tracks with a block-limit at 7500? Play it with your friends... On a server. But there are only "rooms" and the rooms are only available if anyone plays on it. Share it? How?

Re: Questions & Answers Trackmania Turbo
Wrong. TrackMania Turbo is based on the same engine as every previous TM game as well.ManiaDesign wrote:But Turbo has another engine

Wrong. With the Maniaplanet 4.0 update later this year, Maniaplanet will benefit from all technical upgrades Turbo has brought.

Include them to what? The development of the game?

?????????????
From what I've seen in the gameplay videos/streams, there is a menu where you can download community-made tracks, similar to the titlepack store in Maniaplanet.ManiaDesign wrote:We can't share the tracks online, just ingame.. Btw: How? Will there be a store?
Double Driver, the painter, the lobby system, random track generator, etc.ManiaDesign wrote:but WHAT feature is new in the game?
So out of the two people you asked, probably noone was bothered to use the editor for more than two minutes. No surprised they weren't happy after mapping. Personally I've seen plenty of people having a lot of fun building tracks (most of them were using the normal editor, some even the easy one).ManiaDesign wrote:And I'm sure it's possible to create an easy track-editor. Rooms are always available, even if nobody is playing on it.ManiaDesign wrote:But there are only "rooms" and the rooms are only available if anyone plays on it. Share it? How?
Re: Questions & Answers Trackmania Turbo
You have some questions and answers between players, so it's good, but please avoid "debate" style in this thread (and hard words ^_^) Thank you.

Bumping my question, because I'm curious.Miss wrote:Hylis, can you confirm my theory that Turbo is just an updated version of Maniaplanet with just some features from MP disabled? I imagine it would be relatively simple for you guys to port most (or all) of the new Turbo features to Maniaplanet, would it not? (Thinking mostly about UI updates, etc)Hylis wrote:The goal is to secure the 60 FPS on console. The really cool thing is that we spent a lot of time at optimizing the blocks and it will benefit also the PC version, and alter Maniaplanet.

I'll ask again: will TMT have a demo version?

Pretty sure it wont, but it would be nice.disposableaccount wrote:I'll ask again: will TMT have a demo version?
A demo that is like the open beta: Only the white tracks so people can feel a bit of each environment.

Re: Questions & Answers Trackmania Turbo
Miss, MP is a system and has to be adaptative to a lot of context with more customatibility of styles possible and less "hand made" interface. MP has still a lot of work to do on it's system part, but since Turbo is made in Maniascript + Manialink, there has improvements linked to this work that is going to be in Mp4 as features. For MP, our goal is to keep as small as possible the Maniascript part, in order to make it at highest level as possible (more expressive, easier to maintain, less ressource consuming etc.) And features are not disabled. It's a misunderstanding of people thinking that. It was already a major challenge to enable the current features of Turbo, and especially because of all the UI and constraints link to paddle, consoles rules, simplification etc. UGC, moderation, map editing, avatars, custom datas, way to manage user names, scores tables, online accounts, friends, privacy & privilege, pause modes, inputs management are many topics that require a specific attention, and especially in UI.

Re: Questions & Answers Trackmania Turbo
if only white tracks were included it would make people think trackmania is all about easy boring short tracks, it needs more variety to not leave a bad impression.matsilagi_tmu wrote:A demo that is like the open beta: Only the white tracks so people can feel a bit of each environment.
