New to TM2 - Couple of Newbie Questions

I played the free version for a while with a G27 on my MAME arcade machine and it seems like one of the best racing games for "party mode" without a dedicated graphics card (I use onboard HD4000).

However it's really very hard to understand what's going on. I worked away at it within my 48 hours, and sort of got the hang of most of the system, although this planets and whatnot seems obscure.

So I put down my cash, thinking that would get me the "full" thing, rather than just registering official times, which doesn't really interest me, and I can't do many of the things I thought I'd be able to. Documentation is weak, so coming here for help, hope you don't mind!

1. Choosing car: I selected a car under models, however it doesn't actually get used when I race, how do I do this?
2. How can "guest" players in local hot seat mode choose a car?
3. In hotseat mode, how can I choose the maps we'd like to race? Some are way way too difficult for party guests.
4. I briefly tried TMF, however it was accelerate always on game, so came back to TM2, but I noticed in TMF that one could show opponent name in hot seat mode, just above the car. Can't see how to do this in TM2?

Those are my very initial thoughts on first glance of the paid version, I actually can't see what I get in paid version other than the 1 hour per day release and registering official scores...

Hope you can help, I gather this is a helpful and vibrant community.

1) Make sure you use the right car for the environment or set the model for all environments
You can also download nice cars from this page http://www.maniapark.com/
2+3) I havent even tried the hotseat mode tbh, so perhaps others can help you with this.
4) Use the ~ to show names above cars

Carwise I am only playing Canyon now. I select a car, and then go into race, and it's not selected.

I will try ~ now, the instructions say ' which didn't work.

In hotseat mode, choose CanyonA, StadiumA or ValleyA playlist. They are including easy to pickup tracks

Thanks, it was tracks like Canyon A03 (which requires jumping through a hole in the wall, you just have to find the right speed, not really a good party race) and Canyon A05 (multilap race) which I was trying to avoid.

I was using the "browse" and nothing was there.

I have now downloaded with https://tm.mania-exchange.com/tracksear ... e&priord=0 and put in the maps folder, and now I can select them.

Bit odd that you can't select the map as standard, like you can in solo mode.
