About the suggestions for SM and QM

Post by Arubiano »

Hello there~

I was quite surprised to see the maniaplanet forum announced after the ubi e3 conference, and gladly made an account next day.
Now I'm pretty excited for TM2 being a long long time TM player, but maybe more interested in SM and QM because we simply do not know anything about it.

Keeping this in the back of my mind, why do I see an overload of suggestion threads that feature more people posting more suggestions about two games we don't know ANYTHING about.
How about we keep the ideas on the down low till we can actually make some intelligent well thought out suggestions.
Which will be when there is enough information, and that is not now.

Oh and if this sounds like a rant, then here's a real one:
I also see some threads for TM2 with suggestions that are just not worth anyones time.
This is explained by the wisdom of the poster, which is not on par with some of us users here simply because of their age. From experience I know that a userbase with lots of young players will cause lots of irritation among the more mature players :D and it's happening already!
Yes some of us are already raging!
But we cannot do anything but set a good example and hope the young will latch onto that.

Now to boost the positivity of this thread, to compensate for the negativity (I am a really positive person in general)
I'm happy that there are already a lot of people on maniaplanet who are so passionate and caring about the project!
If anything it will be those kinds of people that a game and its community needs to grow.

so what do you want to discuss in this topic?
You just could have posted it into one of these suggestion topics, instead of opening one for a senseless discussion. sry, but that's just my opinion..^^

Oh, but i'm just glad if one person reads this and does not post his suggestion!.
Posting this in every suggestion topic that has been opened, i'm too lazy for that!

Then again, I don't really think some/most/all of these people are going to stop their shenanigans.
I guess others who read this can recognize themselves in this, and together we can share our sentiments.
And those who don't, they are probably the ones that we are sad for.

There's no need for discussion. Just feeling. Cry with us. Let it all out. Oh general TM public...

This would be more like a big spam in the forum... No good idea in my eyes^^

ideas that come from players are what game makers listen to. complaints, ideas, suggestions, wants, needs... they do read these posts.

Why do you think they made this forum to begin with? (and the first topic was "ideas")

If they didn't care about "our" input they would not have made a forum... they would not even bother to reveal this idea.

sorry if I sounded mean.

I'm sorry if i made the wrong impression, i'm all for suggestions. In fact, in most games that i'm forum active, i try to make a lot of suggestions. I even wish devs would listen more to them. And i'm glad nadeo does listen more than other devs.

But to me, making suggestions about stuff you don't know anything about yet, is equal to spam.

I do agree in some way. It's impossible to make any sort of serious suggestions for these games.

We all freely admit that we have no clue how these games are going to work. I find it pretty unlikely, that with no amount understanding of how the games are actually going to work, that suggestions that will be useful to Nadeo will arise very often.

Hopefully once a bit of information starts to come out, then things will develop into a much more directional discussion. I guess for now all we can do is spam...

i see devs in these forums on almost every thread... they read our input.

I think it is MORE important that we put in our "spam" suggestions before a game is made so that the devs might see something that they didn't think of before.

the devs make an enviro and some blocks for map making and see that someone said they want hallways for SM. then they take that and run with it. it isn't spam if a sparkle of an idea gets into the boardroom.

I agree that 90% of this stuff is from people that want blood and guts and to be able to make star wars levels and stuff. But it is that small 10% of good ideas that they read and say "I can work with that idea a little".

I'm glad they gave us a suggestion place before the game is even made... it shows that this game will be made by the ideas of the players.
