Even with the mute function, they can still ruin the ladder, don't you think? Some players aren't good, but work hard for their LP, and with a smurf account you can still really spoil that for them.
Also a demo is a demo, if people get all the ingame features with a free game, then ask yourself what's the point of paying for them? Surely you can spend 10€ for Stadium and you automatically have full control over your account and ability to climb the ladder. So why did I buy Valley, Canyon and Storm for 20€ each then, and get the same ingame experience as the one who paid 10€ or not even that.

Re: No more free accounts.
The problem in elite nowadays is that it's filled of smurfs, by blocking the ladder for them you don't make the game a pay2win, you don't pay for the rank, you still have to earn it once you paid the game.TheBigMiike wrote:I think, you can limit everything you want but limiting something that affect the rank-level or gameplay of a free player is something that no editors should do.
I'm reading the answers of everyone, I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I don't reproach the fact that you are doing something to improve Elite neither the fact that a demo put limits. I only reproach the fact that your modification affect the rank of a player. It's like you are selling the player rank...
Of course that's the point of the ladder (even though it's not really effectiv at it), but if you want to pretend being one of the best players, you surely will understand it needs more than a couple of hours and therefor it would be normal to buy the game and support the editors who provided you a game you like so much you're trying to become one of the best on it.TheBigMiike wrote: The ladder system is here to determine the best players and doing this modification goes against the ladder concept.
Re: No more free accounts.
See, the problem here is that you see the 20€ price of ShootMania as something like a DLC, something that you can additionally or optionally pay to get extra stuff for the game.TheBigMiike wrote:It's like you are selling the player rank...
The thing is, SM isn't a free game. Sure, there is a practically unlimited trial which is great, but it's meant to be a trial - not a F2P version of the game. A few dozen hours should probably be enough to figure out if you like the game and want to buy it or not. If you play the trial for so long that you see yourself become one of the best players (which is probably thousands of hours, at least hundreds) - come on, you can afford to buy the game.
Also, as others have said, capping the ladder rank for free accounts has nothing to do with pay2win.

Re: No more free accounts.
I really hate it that you can vote ManiaStars for players with a free account, because everyone can basically create 100 free accounts and vote for himself.
I know many ppl don't care about ManiaStars and most players in ManiaPlanet might not even know the function, but I think the ManiaStars are a very good idea, to see which players are well known / most liked. I guess most of the players with 2 or even 3 ManiaStars deserve them, but at some of them I really doubt it.
So maybe you could deactivated the voting option for not-bought accounts? That would make the ManiaStars way more trustful again
.
I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a new topic, but for now I'm just gonne add it here, because it's also about free accounts.

Actually I finally tried this, and it seems to work in other modes too! Thanks Joshy <3iJoshyMo wrote:
At least an ignore button would be a minimum requirement. Since people get insulted for everything they do in the game. This really takes the fun out of it.
Also ville,i know that in elite you can hide the chat and only read it when you press 'c' (Standard button for opening 'complete chat'). You can do this by pressing F8 in-game and then settings and disabling chat r something. This way you can still type etc. But if needed you can also just hide chat and ignore it. As far as i know, this only works in Elite?
Why is a feature like this so well hidden though? I had no idea this was possible and I've got quite a few hours in SM...
