Lightmaps okay, but ingame destroyed...

Post by Florenzius »

Hey there,

sadly i didn't find a way to fix my problem, so maybe at the snow release some maps will look like they have destroyed lightmaps...

Skyslide helped me to create right lightmaps in blender and if I look at them, there are no problems... I unwrapped it right at the right edges, but ingame it looks completely different...

I already cleared cache, calculated and calculated lightmaps, but it's not better...

Here is an ingame-result, which shouldn't look like this..

I have other, worse results, where the objects are black at some parts too.
It's a finish object and looks like this in blender: http://i.imgur.com/VGSFCzC.png

As you can see, the edges are marked red and the lightmap in blender is okay too: http://i.imgur.com/atEQazD.png

nothing is overlapping and the faces are in the right shape.

So i hope i can find help until the release :?

Thanks in advance,
Flo

Try to put more space between uv islands, on picture looks like your island edges are overlapping.

They are not overlapping, but near, that can be possible..

I'll check ^^

I expirienced this when creating my Minigames title pack.
Didn't get to fixing this bug, but I got some idea to fix:
You should check that verticies of these objects are placed pixel perfect - even 0.0001 difference can do this.

Watch your object in blender in solid mode to see if you have this issue.
You can try to go in object data / Normals, tick auto smooth and chose the right angle (usually around 30-40)

UV islands are indeed too close.

So resizing and get more space would fix the problem? Sounds easies than thought ^^

the bigger the map, the smaller the lightmap available per block. so the problem can appear again in that case.
