I am becoming pretty upset because it is not the first time I got problems with TM2.
Machine is a AMD R9 290 combined with a AMD 8320, both stable overclocked and 16GB DDR3 RAM
OS: Windows 10 64bit
So here is what happend:
I had some Problems with Launcher-Settings and Ingame-Settings.
Launcher-Settings wouldn't be active in the game and so on.
I don't remember how I got it, but some day I had the settings like I wanted and they didn't change because I started the game directly and not via the launcher.
Time and Updates passed, only the GPU driver remained at Version 16.7.2
Then the Creators Update came for Windows and I tried it.
Everything was fine, except for, you guessed it, Trackmania 2 -.-
Now I had really bad FPS even though I didn't touch the settings (2560x1440 with Preset Good, but under 40FPS), so this was pretty inacceptable.
To shorten this:
I took an ISO with Windows 10 64bit and the Anniversary Update(AU) included (One Update where I remembered it running fine) and made a clean install to make a comparison with Creators Update(CU).
But even now with AU the same low FPS.
So I tried tweaking around and started to notice that every time I start the game(again, not via launcher), it has the same setting.
Regardless if I changed the settings before in the game and restarted it.
And if I changed the settings, keeping the resolution, the FPS wouldn't go above 45FPS even tough I were on the lowest settings possible.
So on the one hand I have the really bad performance and on the other the constant ingoring of settings.
Also tried to set them in the launcher, tried to save them as a Profile, but nothing worked.
Don't know if I am/was just to stupid to find the solution, but this really sucks, especially because I reinstalled my system only to get the same problems again realizing that it can't be Windows 10 or anything else.
Does somebody know how to fix that?
I mean, at least the game should keep the settings that I have saved before, either in game or in the launcher in a separated profile.
Thats one simple task that every game can do.... except Trackmania -.-
If there is more information needed, please just ask and I will try to give them asap
EDIT:
Game is on Steam if it is relevant

Re: Bad Performance and Ingnoring of Settings
Hi, had this problem for two years, and didnt play mostly cause of it.
Settings acting weird, Fps and stutter issues. Running windows 10.
32g mem
i7 kabylake
R9 290 clocked at 1150mhz.
I used to run it maxed over 200fps, so should you.
I decided to try fiddle around again trying to fix this as i started to miss Valley after these years, and today i fixed it.
Here is what to do!:
First delete D9cache: C:\ProgramData\ManiaPlanet\GpuCache_D3D9
Then delete Your Config files that stores your profiles etc: C:\Users\username\Documents\ManiaPlanet\Config
Then i went into the steam game folder, inside my Valley folder and right click Maniaplanet and run compability for windows 8, save.
Now start up your game withouth going into settings, it will tell you it has to run a quick benchmark to estimate your settings.
when its logged in it will start synching your settings in order to grab your username and stuff, and likely download your old settings and apply it.
This might take a minute.
Now it should run fine, it did so for me.
My keybinds and sensitivity settings were downloaded and all back in order.
Feel free to exit the game and go in config now to adjust your settings for the new default profile.
I dont know whats causing this problem, since its downloading your old stuff when logging on again, but something werent quite good in the config folder.
EDIT: Okay, So after i got into the config after doing the fix, and tweaked my settings, the problem came back.
I suggest not going into the settings.
I set Very high preset, adjusted lightmaps to very high, and enabled geometry optimizing.
Even if i went back to the config file and press "reset to defaults" it will not fix, and i had to do the fix, step by step all over.
Keep this in mind.
Its better not touching the Settings.
It was stable 150fps after fix.

Re: Bad Performance and Ingnoring of Settings
Well first of all: tanks for the reply
but I will have lower FPS than you because of my 8320
I will try your suggestion, but it will take me till tuesday to get to my gaming computer :/
But thats the odd thing, after going into the config launcher, something seems to be broken... -.-
EDIT:
Mh, didn't work for me.
I also didn't find the Maniaplanet folder in "Documents", but I'm sure that in pervious Windows versions there was this folder...
EDIT2:
okay, I did improve my FPS really good, but I'm not sure how...
Because I like to monitor my HW I installed MSI Afterburner and RTSS, but RTSS I deinstalled and reinstalled the latest Betaversion (7.0.0 Beta 19).
During that installation, oddly there was also a DirectX Installation. Don't know exactly what he installed there... :/
Then I went to the properties of Maniaplanet and also the launcher.
Set the Compatibility to Windows 8 and Run as admin for both.
And now, instead of 40 i have 80-100, depending on the situation.
Pretty good I would say, my CPU is the bottleneck because the load on the GPU drops always from 95-100% to 0 or 50 or 35 or whatever
so not really steady, I'm gonna see if I can do something with the tastmanager...
