TM2 Game Pad Suggestion (Win 10)?

Post by Dan »

I used a XBOX 360 pad + a custom driver (recommended by Frostbeule in the past). After changing to win 10 the custom driver doesn't work anymore + the original Microsoft driver sucks completely & makes the game unplayable. After reading about many problems w. the XBOX one pad in TM2 I'm now looking for a quite well pad (I play w. sensitivity 1.2 & deadzone 0.05, Skill-Level medium).

Any suggestions?

I don't use Windows 10 but I use a Logitech Gamepad and really like it. It has a look and feel of a playstation Gamepad but with buttons that resemble microsoft's gamepad and it is Windows compatible. Microsoft really doesn't like it when people don't use their products and as a result incompatibilities seem common.

Yep, I used the old Logitech F310 for a while, worked OK, but the quality wasn't too good. The xbox 360 is perfect but only for a while (the sticks die too soon...). It's difficult, the game got no updates any more (?) & the computers are getting better & newer...

Game updates are coming real soon. Be patient just a bit longer and see if updates make a difference.

In my experience with Xbox 360 controllers, keeping your deadzone low will shorten the life of your controller. For a couple years I used 0.1 (default) until I had a controller that was 2 months old and the car started to steer on it's own. (That happens when the analog sticks don't fully return to the center, the springs start wearing slightly.) If I had to use 0.05 I'd probably get 1-2 months top before I replaced them.

For awhile I would slowly increase the dead zone as I noticed the car starting to steer on it's own (most noticable on straight starts). The downside is that I was constantly having to make minute adjustments to my driving to compensate. From 0.10 to 0.12, to 0.15 etc.. After getting sick of that I put it to the maximum I could handle on the controller without it feeling too "spongy", settling at 0.18. It took a few months to fully adjust, but I've kept it at that ever since. Controllers last much longer and I don't have to make adjustments as they wear. If I catch the car steering on it's own now I know the controller is done. The downside is that you may need to make an adjustment to your sensitivity because you may not get full turn radius and just gimp yourself. I use 1.25.

But yeah, the in-game settings are exceptionally lacking. Nothing indicates where you have full turn sensivity or where you don't, no real-time slide gauges so you can have a visual indication of where the deadzone is or how the sensitive reacts. Sorely needed.

I've not ever used custom drivers though so I can't help you on that.

I use xbox 360 pad with standart sensitivety but 0.2 deadzone. My pad is around 7 years old now. Still works fine. Just a bit worn out ofc =D
