Since this discussion popped up a couple of times in the TM Discord and my stream already, I thought I'd open up a thread here for a more visible and transparent discussion.
Let me quote myself from what I posted on Discord:
"I absolutely agree the solo ladder needs a reset. There is no point in keeping a half-assed broken leaderboard with easily beatable times (referring to Canyon and Valley here since it doesn't really affect Stadium). Right now, records and leaderboards are too much of a cluster anyway because only players who imported their accounts into MP4 will have their old records shown in the leaderboard as well - meaning that the leaderboards aren't complete. I think people would be more motivated to start off with a fresh start where everyone starts off at zero again. Having a mix between MP3/MP4 just adds frustration for MP3 record holders (speaking about my personal experience here, people are literally bragging about how good they are because they are finally able to beat MP3 records thanks to a game update; something they could've done before...nice display of skill lol)."
These are just my quick thoughts here, feel free to discuss it here because it is an important thing to talk about.

official times should be reset! or atleast deleteall the MP3 times. (some people already hunted in MP4)

we need a reset..
we need a reset..
Re: Solo leaderboard needs a complete reset
Indeed, a reset would be a good option for everyone

Re: Solo leaderboard needs a complete reset
Hope a reset is made, would avoid all this mess with MP3 replays and new MP4 replays.
Re: Solo leaderboard needs a complete reset
I have to agree, TrackMania has always been about winning by skill and not by having a better car. With the MP3/MP4 records mixing, now it kind of is. Couple that with the numerous block changes and bug fixes, and it really shows just how different these two sets of vehicles are.
+1 to this, I think what backlash might be caused by record loss is overshadowed by the benefits of equal footing.

I think, it's too late for new campaigns with new blocks, but yes, leaderboards will be reset.
P.S. I don't like that new fast start of CanyonCar, but who cares...

Re: Solo leaderboard needs a complete reset
We kinda have to choose between bad and worse. It's a big shame that all these hundred of hours we spent on mp3 records are useless now. I'm more surprised that riolu is the person to come up with that idea, since he used to be number one worldwide on all environments. Nonetheless new times are just not comparable with old ones, exceptionally on Canyon and Valley.
We should see a fresh start to every campaign, I totally agree on that, but we also should recive some kind of small reward for our previous efforts. Just like in any other game when a new season arrives.
(just keep replays that are already driven in mp4
)

Re: Solo leaderboard needs a complete reset
I don't mind having both MP3 and 4 times at the same time.
When Forever came out, there were some slight changes of physics as well, maybe just only Rally, but times were not erased, and nobody cared.
Besides, if a MP3 time is insane enough to be hard to beat withMP4, I guess it deserves to stay.

ManiaPlanet 4 brought a lot of changes, including different handling, so, would make sense to reset the campaign (or start a new season with new tracks) since quite a lot of MP3 times would be beaten. Also, there are some cuts in campaign maps (I assume cutting isn't the proper way to drive campaign maps
) and a lot of people spent hours trying that lucky run to get a high spot in rankings.
Starting a new season with new maps is the best way, for me, to use what MP4 brings best in terms of blocks and improvements. If that isn't going to happen, at least the leaderboards times should be erased.
