The first four paragraphs were well explained edk. As a keyboard player, I appreciated reading your perspective.

And as a keyboard player, I would add that I never felt like Nadeo should make Rally, Island, or Coast easier for keyboard players. Those were all environments where analog drivers had a pretty big advantage. On the contrary, I always felt like I should learn to drive with gamepad or even wheel so that I could compete on a higher level. I never did, but that was my fault. And I could still drive those environments with keyboard, and I still had fun. I just wasn't going to compete on the same level without an analog steering device.

Analog is a natural choice for racing. We drive cars with steering wheels, not buttons.

Even this forum emoji uses a wheel:
:pil

All that having been said, I am glad I can play TM with keyboard. :P But I wouldn't want analog-specific gameplay to be removed on my account, especially when players have built their skills around it for half a decade. Of course, I don't speak for all keyboard players.

I play Canyon on keyboard too, so maybe that's why I don't notice any change. I dunno. I play all the other environments with a PS4 pad though.

I have to agree, I tried to give it a chance. "Turns are easier now!" "The steering feels tight!" but now it's just dull and boring and I have no motivation to get better at all. This is the only version of Trackmania I really play (300 hrs in Canyon with about 30 hrs in Vally and 50hrs in Stadium) and there is definitley a physics change.

It feels like the game is playing itself. Hairpin turns are PAINFULLY easy now. (All of my touge maps are ruined since hard turning is boring and you don't need to make minute corrections...)(Oh and not to mention how late breaking is pointless since you can break on a dime now.)

Can you show an example map? I didn't see any difference here.

TM2:canyon other (problems with update)

Post by anonomunch »

hi id like to know when the TM software was updated to what it is now, its been completely overhauled, i dont recognise the game anymore, i cant even race for official times anymore...... really sad, because TM was my go to game for multiplayer racing, even after the overhaul, the game is now barely playable even on lowest graphic settings, id like the chance/option to choose between the original layout which is far superior and this load of rubbish that is now the norm. I much preferred the old blue client and its layout, now with this overhaul, the game freezes, and when i do manage to go into single player, or multiplayer, the games jumps and skips frames and has severe lag..... im in 2 minds whether to ask for my money back, because personally as a gamer, and lover of car racing/simulation games, im highly disappointed the direction this game has taken

@Miss we both play keyboard and i can tell a definitive difference in handling... again to the worse for me... Car doesnt feel as heavy as it used to be at braking, accelerating and turning... accelerating from 0 is a joke to say the least !!!and this is NOT due to blockchanges at some startblocks!!!

turning was before spot on perfectly balanced and you needed to really have the skill to have the feeling for the speed/curvature ratio...

They surely have to change the physics back to MP3 canyon to not let down a ton of players... especially because this is still a game that only gets better by having creative, well playing players in the community so good content can be created... Those type of people do disagree with the changes that had been made like me and are unwilling to further develop any maps, servers or other stuff.

It is fully acceptable that on TMTcanyon the handling is easier since its a console-focused game with lots more new and unskilled players. But the MPcanyon is now almost 6 years old, you better not change the physics that harsh for a game which is that old!

Nadeo has to finally take the topic "canyon" seriously and change it back... now with the physicscode they have they can even implement on the fly changes and have MP3canyon and MP4canyon, depending on serversettings, why don't they do that?

this happenened with the MP4 update. The official titles are now all working with maniascript and they have been created using the new "title maker".

Your post was merged with the existing Canyon topic btw.

MP4 Release: Why isnt this in the news as the worst ICT update ever?

Post by cheesecake2000 »

Hello,

I am a 41 year old functional consultant. I advice companies about their processes and work with them to improve their information processes,
I also have experience in numerous implementations, both classic as scrum.

Trackmania Canyon is the only game i play.

I updated to MP4 and after shock and awe i diligently read through these forums with regards to the updates.

These are my conclusions:
- You are arrogant (You, being Nadeo). They way certain community managers and developers react (or dont react) on certain issues is far from professional.
People see their complete game environment change into something they never asked for and the reaction is "these are change management feelings, once you get used to it, it will be ok".
- you ruined all sounds in the game. Nobody asked for a replacement. The engine sound is rubbish, the drift sound is worse, the record announcer is plain ridiculous, its DEDI MANIA record, not DIDDY mania record. the countdown is childish and blocks view.
- Servers after being onverted to MP4 are slow
- 100K ROC does not work, community is being destroyed.
- the search for servers has never ever been tested by Nadeo, and if it was, please get rid of the testteam.
- never ever a game has managed (not even windows) to put my resolution higher then my monitors aspect ratio. But you did it.
- we dont need your cactus in the score screen (it doesnt look like a cactus, it looks like a usb symbol).

I would say that ubisoft sends all junior pancakes to Nadeo.

Have a nice day.
