After some more tinkering I've come to the conclusion that setting up a dedicated LAN server for TM² Stadium is currently broken.

Using the /lan commandline argument, server startup fails trying to "update". After giving in and finally creating a dedicated server login and putting it in the config, the server starts up without problems similar to what @cohe69 posted prior (and weirdly it doesn't have to update or install anything, like the LAN server log message suggests). The problem now is, regardless of the is_lan and is_internet settings in the dedicated_cfg.txt file, the server shows up in the Online Server List.

There are two workarounds I can come up with here:
  1. Use the LAN server built into ManaiPlanet itself (Local Play > Local Server > Create).

This sucks, because It requires the host to stay in-game constantly. If they leave, the server gets shut down. Also, it doesn't allow me to use server controllers, which is the whole reason I want to set up a dedicated LAN server to use the additional features provided by controller (plugins).
  2. Password-protect a public server.

I'm not a fan of this either. It clutters the server list and requires a dedicated server login (+ valid game key), which are limited to 10 per account, additional slots cost Planets.
I don't really like either of these options and would love to see this get fixed. Not sure if this forum is the right place to report this problem, or if there is some sort of bug tracker out there, where I could bring this more to Nadeo's attention (https://support.ubi.com/ maybe?).

I have discovered that you can prevent the server from showing up in the list using the /dedicated/server_options/hide_server option in dedicated_cfg, by setting it to 1 for example.
