Skins not saved correctly

Post by speedjunkiexxl »

I know that this thread is marked as „Solved“ but I have a question related to the glitches at Maniaplanet via playonlinux:

The second glitch that also remains for me, next to the boxes in the sky, is that my own car skins are not saved correctly.
For example: As a test I painted one lagoon car completely white with brown stripes; after I saved the car, it’s icon is shown like I really painted it, but in „reality“ (on the turning platform where the cars are standing) the brown stripes are black with red/yellow edges, but still white.
And a yellow stadium car with black spots turned black with wrong placed red painted parts.

I‘m wondering if that will be fixed one day... I really hope that there will be a deb-package for Maniaplanet on Linux which would be the best anyway. :pil

What causes that skin problem? Can I easily fix that by myself or can that only be solved with a complicated workaround??

Note: Since it is a totally new topic, not related to ports, I have separated it.
please create a new topic in future and not misuse existing topics, especially when they are marked as solved,
because not any developer would read that again.
Thanks.

Regarding your skin saving issue, make sure the folders are writeable.
There are also different locations for skins, one for the vehicles in general, one for each title.

Ok thank you for letting me know that.

What do you mean with „writeable“?

Ok but when I import skins in „Skins“, they are recognized and not black, but not selectable/(changable) (?)

Playing with a free Demo or Fully paid game? :?: 8-) ("Skins" cannot be accessed in-game in the Demo version). :pil
I ask because, although skins should be fully blocked in Windows Demo, I wonder if Linux partially allows (unintentionally), which produces the odd colours you are seeing.

* Meaning, if you are in Demo mode, that's the best you can hope for; if a paid license, then yes you have an issue: Video rendering bug? Obviously not a problem with folder names. locations, as the stripes are at least showing as you describe. So (if a paid license) I'm guessing this is a graphics issue, either with anti-aliasing settings or Linux OS/ Video card matching. Or....
.... .... .... .... [ quoting Jake Sully: '.....or something.' ] :?

Cheers

I‘ve paid for canyon/valley/stadium/lagoon.

So at least I have to wait for a better version of Wine which makes the Trackmania 2 games playable with playonlinux on linux Mint... (?) :1010

Otherwise you can be experimental with painting
Thank you for your answer nighthawk4571 :)

Also a very happy new year guys 8-)
