Damn... I really hate to say this because it makes the impression of me being the teacher who "forces" the students to do their homework...I don't want to be a man like this. I can understand hylis. I am just a gamer. But pls, Hylis or Nadeo: Will you finally learn of your mistakes (like putting too much focus on the creators side or having a messy game interface) and act accordingly? Is there anything coming which could be exciting for SM players (and not the creators)?
If Nadeo wants us to understand them, They need to learn to understand us - the gamers.

"Shootmania Forever". Make pay for map editor and rest is free.
Re: The Situation in ShootMania
Sorry to say that i disagree to some points, i read here.
Often heard: "making it free to play" --- If "ftp" would be the main thing why a game is played by millions, there would be no Assassins Creed, no Tomb Raider, No Console Gaming, None of Counterstrike, Battlefield, etc... So THIS cannot be the reason.
The UI is bad, broken, difficult... Everybody that ever played a simulation game knows... There can be 5 minutes before start as you has to decide so much... Ever played "EVE", Minecraft, Rayman, Rocket League, WoW, LEGO Games (where you are not able to save before you find the right place?)
Bugs.... Ofc there are bugs and its annoying that in each of the updates are new ones introduced or older ones caming back alive. And I also hate them as f.... especially when a cp-direction changes and my maps loose the flow... But bugs are in each game, I ever had the (questionable) fun to play. And guys there were hundreds of games i played and tried in the last 40 years. And I still do because its part of my second business I run since years.
Negative people... lol, did you ever played games like CS:Go, BF, WoW, Dota, Halo, LoL,? I did, and just tell you to search YT for videos... In addition and leaning on the old song of "The Troggs" from 1967, covert by "Wet Wet Wet" in 1994, called "Love is all around" - NO, hate, flaming, bullying is normal in that games...
So, imho there is no reason to make it free or make too big changes in UI or divorce TM and SM. Shootmania is a natural born ESports game. And it is not made to compete with bombastic envis like in Tomb Raider or Assassins Creed. Its not made to be a rival to new funky games like Fortnite (and boiz i know all about it as my son does "inform" me 24/7
Its not made to leave the crowd speechless because of beautiful landscapes.
Lot of ppl. know that i am addicted to the game. Its a bit like tetris (or maybe like me, if you want to say so...) old-fashioned, bit over-the-hill, reduced to the minimum. Concentrating on pure gameplay. Fast and easy.
And when i am right, so why are there huge problems, why does noone play and everybody that does complaining about it?
Tbh, i think its because we all love this game and would love to be proud if the world knows about it. To a real Shootmaniac it feels bad that games like Fortnite, PUBG, Apex have so-felt "billions" of gamers and the game we love has a left community you can count on some hands...
Let's say it clear. I love this game and the community. I feel gifted to be part of a crowd of 95 % nice, helping, welcoming gamers you can have good games and nice interesting talks. And don't call frustrated people that try to help and make it clear "negative"...
If it was my game, i would go for adding some new envi and blocks (easy with ingame tools ;-D) brush up a bit and start telling the world... If a game is "the place to be" the ppl come. Most of them will move to the next hot shit in 2 years but some will stay... We don't need 1.000.000 gamers, i like the idea to meet buddies every time i enter (and btw. there is no game you start playing as fast as MP, loading in less than 30 seconds)

Re: The Situation in ShootMania
IMHO the problem #1 with ShootMania is the horrifying ping.
I'm from Brazil (state of SC. GMT -3). Ping isn't a problem for TrackMania, I can play TM in a Russian server without trouble, thanks to all the TM behaviour when online (several players, no collision, the only interaction with other players are the chat, the ghosts and horn).
But SM is a FPS. No way TM behaviour can work with SM. All the channels I can see are from Europe and no way I can play on a European server with less than 200ms. I believe almost all the SM players now comes from Europe since they can play with no problem. SM beta was fun, because we had Brazilian servers and I had very little ping (even with a crappy internet connection back then) but they all disappeared. A good solution to this would be the possibility for regional channels or something like that... But then comes problem #2.
There aren't enough players to make SM viable with regional things (channels, servers). You need to make SM attractive for random people to play. And please make sure Ubisoft are helping you with marketing, because I only saw they marketing SM ONCE years ago on the Brazilian Ubisoft Facebook page. Problem #2 also affects TM in a lesser degree (mostly Valley and Lagoon).
About other things I'll make no comments. I think SM gameplay is pretty awesome, I love the gameplay and the feeling (oh, the thrilling music too). I was wrong when I criticized the game in the beginning.

It's your problem, not games fault. Try to play any other fps game from Brazil on EU/NA server. You will receive nothing but hate speech for lagging or just a kick from having high ping.
SA, just like AUS, are having big troubles to find enough players to maintain dedicated servers in these regions, that's why it's the best for You to just stick with popular games instead of playing a niche.
My Gamemodes:
MP4 - Countdown, Firefight
MP3 - Reduction, Overload, Flashpoint, Territory, SM Race, Escape
MP2 - Search & Destroy, Oscillation, Instagib

I disagree, because first of all: it's definitely not his own fault for being born outside of Europe.
Second, Nadeo could make regional servers, but, like has already been said, there might not be enough players in that region to make that worth it, which brings up the point again for the game to be made more popular (in all regions) with marketing etc.

Re: The Situation in ShootMania
It's an unfortunate infinite loop if no one tries to fix it.
>SM lacks players
>SM tries to catch all the players in the world
>players far away from Europe have hard time playing it due to fewer servers available
>not enough players, those who host servers close them
>no way how to play it, people starts avoiding SM
>repeat
A nice "break" to this loop would be a obviously better marketing campaign (as I said, last time I saw SM in a Brazilian gaming website was about 2014, and a Ubisoft FB post about SM was about that time - I believe other regions have a similar problem). However, a new marketing campaign would be feasible to the world, even knowing that SM is, well, almost dead far from Europe? Ubisoft/Nadeo needs to be aggressive now.

Re: The Situation in ShootMania
As said before, you can't just do advertising/marketing for a game that came out years ago without doing a big DLC or new game release. You'll just market to small groups of people about "hey play this old game", they look at it and see it's old and don't care, or they look at it, play it, and notice there's not enough players to justify to keep playing it.
With that said, I know that Nadeo is currently working on something brand new (there's a few hints throughout the forum and other places), so we just have to wait now, knowing that Nadeo/Ubisoft is doing they best they can.

Shootmania motivation
Good evening to all of you.
The game has been going wrong for some time. We have reported each time the problems, our points of view, our requests for updates, bugs etc.
We are always waiting for you to listen to us and for us to move in the right direction because we are walking on our heads, with each update we will say that you add problems when it is not wanted. Update testers will be very important. We players can help you.
Let's do more closed beta. Don't choose the players, put all the players who play there because otherwise it will be too simple and not accurate enough.
With the community we started streaming it and I bring my little touch. I'm talking with a lot of stream like domingo for example...... If we will perceive I am convinced that we can move forward. Now all we have to do is prove that you can prove it to us.
Nadeo worked fast and well because the game's life is up to you.
Thank you for your understanding and trust.
Thank you for answering us
