Hi all
I found a (new to me) function in the Editor: A map I made in the original TMPLUS Title pack will not load in either the new TMPLUS or TMPLUS_Canyon ... not surprising (1st pic). Normally I would click the 'Cancel' button but this time I thought I would click on the 'Load anyway' button.
This brings up a message I had not seen before (2nd pic). You can imagine my excitement, so I clicked on the 'Rebind' button. It looked for a few seconds as though the Editor might be processing the 'missing' items but then the game suddenly closed!
This happens in both the new TMPLUS and TMPLUS_Canyon Titles.
I'm wondering if anybody else has tried using this function (in any Title Pack) and whether it works for them. If not, does anyone know of a work-around?
Otherwise, I guess it's a shame to have such a function in the game which fails. Maybe a bit more work for the NADEO crew...

Re: Rebind Items crashes Game
Hi,
This feature will only rebind items that have been moved to a different folder but that have not be renamed. But of course, even if it fails, it should never make the game crash! Can you give me your map so that I can fix this, please?

I have used that feature many times but as Angry Duck said, only when moving items from one folder to another. The game will find them and rebind them to the new location.
I you have embedded items on a map and want to rebind them to a new location you have to uncheck automatic embedding, then save your map, (this saves the map without the items embedded but the items list and placements are still saved with the map) quit the map, then when you reload the map you can rebind the items to the new location, then resave the map with the items embedded again.
I'm not sure I could make that any more confusing. If you followed that, then you probably know "Who's On First".

Re: Rebind Items crashes Game
Thanks to angry_duck and Demented for your quick replies - both very helpful.
1. To (not '@' as I don't speak Twitter) angry_duck: Just to be clear, this came about as I have been wrestling with out-dated maps, made in an out-dated Title Pack, trying to find a way for both the map and its embedded custom items/ blocks to work in the new 'TMPLUS' Title Pack.
The crash is repeatable. The spinning 'busy' thing (bottom-right of screen) goes for about ten seconds, then comes a clean crash every time.
Here are two examples:
(WTC) [RPG] The Rockery https://tm.mania-exchange.com/s/tr/99628
(WTC) [RPG] Kragg https://tm.mania-exchange.com/s/tr/158382
* You will see that (WTC) [RPG] Kragg has an error on its MX page. This is an issue with the MX site database, which eyebo (Legend) has been helping me with. I updated this map in the original TMPLUS Title Pack for ManiaPlanet 4 (works fine) then uploaded the fresh map, which brought the error message. So this map still loads ok in the original Title but this is not relevant to my current problem/ question about old items.
Aside from that issue, I have been trying to find a way to make it play in the new TMPLUS or the TMAll Title Packs - without success. Thanks for taking a look at this.
To Demented (maker of awesome Mediatracker content): Thanks mate. I fully understand what you are saying, so now I know what this function is actually used for, which is not quite what I had in mind. I was hoping it might somehow update the actual files (in place). This is something like recomputing shadows in the original Title Pack, which refreshes older blocks and allows them to look 'normal' after Maniaplanet updates.
So at this stage, I'm guessing this issue may probably not be overcome. I think it is likely that item creators would need to update their products first. It is interesting that, in contrast to TMPLUS, the Stadium RPG Title has always been playable after game updates: The Title Pack and all of its built-in items/ blocks still work fine after so many updates. Why? The authors are still engaged with the game and are on the ball every time!
Thanks again!
Cheers ...
PS: The '@' thing - Not aimed at angry_duck, just those posters who, probably being raised via texting (txtmsg) keep trying to impose 'social media' rubbish language into my language.
(Joking)
PSS: Actually, I do know "Who's On First" but don't get me started on that. We should stay on topic...
