Stuttering in Trackmania 2

Post by romanobelucci »

So after few months of break with Tm2 im back. I bought gsync/freesync monitor and play some of tracks in tm2. I have rare stuttering with gsync on and vsync on, medium graphic settings, gtx 1060 6gb, i56600k, 16gb ram and win 10. This is awkward. i cut my fps on 141 with rtss. This is really rare but random fps drops from 141 to 140/139/138 but very noticeable. This looks like a little slow/cut of animation. i Can play 10 tracks with stable 141 fps but there is one time a day i have this shit coming out. I dont remember this playing in the past (only in tmuf but this game is old and i can accept that) There are places in valley car that when the fps drops in the bushes i have smooth gameplay even with drop from 141 to 120 (didnt have in the past without gsync and this is great) but these little fps drops are really annoying even when its one at an hour, one at 10 races. My nvidia drivers are newest.

Sorry for my baaad english. Please help. Now i reinstalling whole maniaplanet application with all games and will see.

Are you playing in servers? If so, which servers? The server controller could be a big factor as well in these kinda things.

Does the problem happen in singleplayer?

Hi,
Could you try to check with the Ctrl+F7 tool if you have any weird spikes when your game slows down ?
If you are unfamiliar with it, this tool can show you what happens on each frame. Maybe this can give us ideas of what's going on.
To use it : Press Ctrl & F7, and when it lags or when you see a spike (a big frame, each yellow bar is a frame) like on this picture below, right click anywhere on the frames to stop it. Then put your cursor on the frame to see what's going on.

Once the stuttering starts use the profiler, and when the next annoying stutter happened, take quickly a screenshot from the position of the lag, as described above :)

No need to quickly take a screenshot, use right-click (quickly) to stop the timeline and then you can take your time to investigate what's going on.

To me the easiest is to play with the profiler until you have the issue, but do what you find the easiest

Ok so i played today maybe 5 min and saw one little cut of animation. While driving. Here are the photos and my graphic settings. I have no programs opened while gaming, no viruses, win 10, newest nvidia drivers, no heat in pc and no idea whats going on. No other game (only TMUF) have this problem. I even turn gsync off because i thought it was this and cut fps to 144.

Thank you for the information
I'm not the one who takes care of this kind of performance, but I will try to check if anyone knows what causes this.

Just as information, the few last Windows 10 Insider builds have a known issue of causing important FPS drops in full screen games, reducing from any value to less than 30. I don't know if you have it, if so, just wait for future build and don't play in full screen.
