As title states i have poor performance playing tm2 stadium. The game is playable but it performs way worse than expected.
I get around 70-100 fps when playing doesn't matter if I'm playing on max or on lowest graphic settings. It is also not possible to watch videos or streams while playing since the game starts stuttering. I would also like to stream the game but with current performance that won't be possible.
Here are my specs:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.40 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
16GB Ram

Re: [TM2 Stadium] Poor performance on high-end pc
Hello,
While I'm not particularly in the graphical/performance part of TrackMania... I see nothing wrong with 70-100fps
A GTX 1660 + Ryzen 5 2600 is rather a mid range gaming PC than a high end PC. By reading this test, we can see that most games in ultra seem to run at 40 to 60 fps in Full HD, so 70-100 fps sounds better than what this PC would render on most other games.
Also, streaming is often capped to 60 or even 30 fps.
I don't think that anything is wrong here.
When it comes to the lags when doing something else simultaneously, make sure to keep the focus on Trackmania's game screen. When focusing on another window, it will take less ressources intentionnally. Also, make sure to uncap your FPS in the graphical settings, maybe that is linked to why you're not seeing any difference between ultra or low options.
Cheers,
Lama

Re: [TM2 Stadium] Poor performance on high-end pc
Thank you for the fast response Reggie. When I said 70-100 fps that is on the absolute minimum settings, no shadows, lowest possible shaders worst texture quality, no bloom etc etc... Comparing it to a game like Rocket League that I can run everything on absolute max with around 250fps I find this performance quite terrible. Also I agree it's not a high-end pc but surely a modern gaming pc should be able to handle trackmania on lowest settings better than I can handle games like witcher on high / ultra. Also I find it super important with high fps in trackmania since it's so fast paced and 70fps is barely playable Imo I would like atleast 144fps steady.
I do make sure my game is focused when doing something else and I still get the stuttering / large fps drop. This is quite unfortunate right now since I want to watch the wow mythic race while playing but I can't do both simultaneously.
I have my fps capped at 150 but it never reaches that number.
I don't care much if I can't play the game above minimum settings I just want good fps.

Oh I see, I misunderstood, thinking that you got 70-100 fps whether in low or high settings from your first message.
I will let someone who is better at graphics than me help you. At work, I'm indeed easily hitting the 144 fps in ultra with a GTX 1060. There may indeed be something wrong.
This may be a dumb tip, but make sure that the game is using the graphics card. I know that at home, I had multiple games that decided not to use the GPU and only run on CPU, resulting in some annoying lags.
Hopefully someone who's better than me at this will be able to find a solution though

Re: [TM2 Stadium] Poor performance on high-end pc
Thank you for the fast response again. I'm sorry I think I'm not being very clear, I do get around 70fps on max settings which I think is fine (seeing as you get 144fps on ultra with a 1060 it should probably do better?) but I also get around 70fps on the lowest settings. This is an issue to me since I find 70fps to be far too low for such a high paced and super precise game. And as I said previously I really don't care much about how the game looks I often play games on the lowest settings but I do care a lot about fps.
The game does use the correct GPU however I've noticed it seems to only use about 25-30% when using lower settings even though it doesn't reach the fps cap, could this perhaps be a part of the issue?
Edit: Also someone I was talking to was using similar specs and getting 144fps at ultra / high (can't quite remember) with 4k resolution.

Did you already reset your Maniaplanet video settings?
Ideally by deleting the file Default.SystemConfig.Gbx (if you're using only that one config).
It was often in the past that some settings got bugged in the file.

Are you checking the GPU usage via Ctrl+F12?
It should show it here:

Thank you removing the config file seem to have done it! I can reach stable 150fps now and only get the stuttering occasionally while watching streams but it's something I can live with. Cheers!
