Until early/mid 2016: TM and SM played well.
Then the laptop suffered several issues and was left aside until fixed by the end of 2019.
From then on, it can't play SM. TM wasn't tested because every update takes ages (btw, is it normal that the download speed is around 0,1MB/sec?).
I have tried:
1) Reducing the settings to the best performance/lowest quality possible
2) Deleting the DefaultSystemConfig.gbx
3) Updating ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470 drivers, which implied installing an official AMD Catalyst Control Center - the driver seems to be the same for all 3400 series but the application did the choice for me, I don't really know which version it is, but from the download page all are from 2013 while the one I had was from 2009 apparently.
4) Forcing the game settings to obey the configurations from the application - this I don't know if took place and don't know how to assure it does.
5) Running the game from the Logs.exe.
I have re-tested the game after each step, but the best it could do was to go from crashing at the moment I move forwards, to crashing only when I shoot or take too many steps outside the starting place (maybe it depends on the map).
Rotating the map from pre-start and moving only the head around is doable, although the latter is a bit slow, but faster than the stepping forward.
The crash consists in freezing the image or turning blank while mouse freezes, then the Windows notification pops telling me the graphic card stopped working and was restarted successfully. The game then shows a blue background message mentioning some DEVICE_HUNG message along with the name of the graphic card. It either is playable again for some seconds or gets stuck for good and it becomes a hard time shutting it down from the Windows Task Manager.
