But how blindly some see it has the 'holy grail' for gaming is really silly.
What is BETTER than Steam currently?

Not uPlay and DEFINITELY not EGS.

Steam is not where it is because if offers a crappy service and ANY gamer should be able to see that.

Steam adds VALUE to a game purchase via MANY reasons.

Anyone wanting to push a GAME as a service needs to make sure as many people as possible can access their game any way they please.

Ignoring the biggest and best PC platform is not an option unless you are E.A with a gazillion dollar marketing budget.

Putting the game on Steam is common sense.

Will we be able to play via Maniaplanet without having to use EGS or uPlay as a glorified launcher?

calm down, its just a way to start your game^^ if you like trackmania and if its a good game then the choice of launcher shouldnt affect your decision to play/buy it at all.
(+ more money into Nadeos/Ubisofts pocket instead of greedy Valve^^)

You did not see how often users have issues with the key registration, with their account, with playing the games.
Often they contacted Steam, and the answer was "ask Ubisoft", and Ubisoft often responded "purchased on Stean, it's a Steam problem".
Bad support ping-pong, which is confusing and unnecessary.

The only good "service" of Steam is the very large choice of games and their DLC, and the sales.
But a good support is not really there, as it is often based on each game's community.

Furthermore the Trackmania community does not really need Steam for user content, as there are many great sites established like Carpark/Maniapark and Trackmania-Exchange.
The Steam workshop is rather counter productive here.

I don't say Steam is bad in general , I'm also using it.
I only wanted to show the possible reasons why Ubisoft prefers to have its own ecosystem.
At least for the first phase of a game.

P. S. Thanks oiram456

I wrote a rather long and nasty reply as to why I don't like steam... and because of its negative nature... deleted it.
Simplified, my personal opinion is, I don't like the extra steps to start a game, added places for bugs, and I will never buy a game that requires it.
If I say "nothing is better than steam", people who love it can smile even if what I really mean is, I'd rather have nothing.
;)
Everyone has different reasons and perspectives on things and I think all opinions are valid and important.

So is a "launcher" required or can we just download from Maniaplanet?

That would solve all problems, unless we are saying ONLY EGS and Uplay which is quiet frankly, hypocritical as it is known EGS are very unethical in their business practices.

It's completely unrelated to ManiaPlanet so you won't be able to download it there.

And yes, it's only gonna be on Uplay and EGS. Not a big issue, is it? I mean it's a Ubisoft game

Slightly off topic for the new game launch date, but I get the point.

Nadeo Or Whomever should have made a launcher for the individual PC devoid of game buying. Just a Launcher. Steam, GOG and UBI. launchers are sales sales sales. That's the problem.
Give me a Wallet sent to my address with a slither of paper saying xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxx. Or with a key saved to my machine via email account. When I buy the game it gives me control over where I use it. Which I can use anywhere on any PC of mine(Linked to me. Tech is great once launched by accounts). I would say I have that choice to not get stuck in a bloody loop when a firm could go bust and loose every thing you have bought. I have seen this with a few film online.(Dont bother saying download, they fix it so you cant move to a new drive. Mine got faulty, waste of money.).
This will happen to all firms even Steam over time, but I do wish them many happy years. I have many DVD games which I still play and have even been able to type the key into steam and it has worked. YAY for Steam.
I visit these only to buy on sales never bought full price yet because of this issue. Its really put me off full price buying. I am the same with Amazon films. Sale I am there.
Don't buy a film of Sky Digital If you leave them you cant watch or download to watch what you have bought(F** **** ****)in English, For Gods sake.

OKay I forgot what I was talking about - :pil

The GFX do look a lot better in the new Stadium can I ask what level of skills you have used in the quality(I don't know computer talk).
Example, will there be car collision as the roads seem to look wider than the old trackmania 2 stadium. Or maybe
The detail of pixel that makes a car do they use physics in anyway.

Get it on Uplay instead then.

Unbelievable how this thread has already derailed into "why no Steam tho" :(

Ohhh no. Ubishit can't make all the money they want. I pitty them.
TM is already a niche game, releasing it on shitty platforms is not gonna help it's popularity.
