Hopes and wishes of the german Tm-Community

Post by Steelworks92 »

Hello :)

In the german forum, we got a big Thread with hopes and wishes for Trackmania 2, whose conclusion is already translated, so i can post it here :) (thx to Xbody for conclusion and translation:))

This list contains not all of my wishes, neither i would like to see everything in this list in Trackmania 2 :D

General
- Detailed information of all players (ingame)
- Top 10 of the people with the same or similar ranking scores
- Community Projects and Contests (like StarTrack)
- When I click on S the game saves from the beginning of the map. The replay are getting very long then. It’s hard to cut them. The game should save from the last clicking on del (Not already fixed?)
- No ongoing Internet connection because Ubisoft’s copy protection
- costs between 35 € and 50 € (not more – that’s a lot of money)

Graphic
- Better textures
- Backgrounds should be more natural (they are too empty: perhaps in TM2 far away cities…)
- Removing the shadow of the car when it drives in the shadow of a building

Mediatracker
- Copy&Paste of keyframes
- Undo command
- Text as vector graphics (retains sharpness)
- Export only a part of a replay
- Including trasparent videos
- Save settings of video-export
- Ready-made cameras for Media Tracker (for the editor)
- Smoke
- Standard Windows shortcuts should work
- should be able to choose which part of the replays you want to export
- Select multiple replays to import
- Remove multiple tracks simultaneously
- 2D Rectangles
- Effects on the text (to create nice titles)

Manialinks
- Scrolling in Manialinks
- Setting of the Maniacodes(-costs) in the same file
- Manialink's xml format; replaced by a standard open source browser engine

Gameplay
- Sort of the maps by alphabet (also if you have color-codes)
- More advanced review after playing a track. Functions like stop, rewind and slow motion (like in TMO)
- List with the people which are around you (have the same amount of medals) in single player
- disengageable intro video
- The Crazy mode should be back again
- Breakable stuff
- Chat and better control of ingame-messages
- More Music
- Important signs of TMX should be integrated in the game
- Particles like snow, rain and sand
- Mud or water that splashes on the camera
- Creating of downloadable campaigns in the game by players (TM Sunrise)
- change graphics settings ingame
- Visual car damage (like in old versions of TMO)
- Cockpit view
- Under water cam
- Falling raindrops, autumn winds blowing leafs around, falling snow
- Racing, puzzle, stunt and platform must be retained
- See ingame dedimania records and TMX records
- Tracks made by the community
- Knockout mode
- Quicksand (keep your speed up or...)
- Chatting with friends in the main menu
- People should be able to create a clan officially, in TrackMania, with a new interface
- Drift points
- The handling should be slightly affected by rain and snow
- Hydromania: Driving on the water

Maniascript
- The most important program-structures (if, else, while, for, switch, ...)
- Random command
- Better documentation

Editor
- Entire block sections should be draggable and changeable (to select the same image on every screen)
- Creating of locators in the game
- Ghost editor (TM Sunrise)
- Automatic camera changes (in loopings, ...)
- Location marker (arrow points to the finish)
- Compatibility with jpg and mp3
- vector graphics
- Variable mood options
- Better stickers
- Templates
- fabricated passageways with decoration to mark "road borders" (Two posts before)
- Abolishing the color-booster/luck-booster (the booster which changes his color)
- Adjusting the angle of curve
- FTP client for Loc-files
- More decoration, less complex blocks
- The digging of holes to create natural tunnels ("substract/fill" blocks that can be embedded inside the geology of the map)
- Variable size of blocks (small street & broad street)
- Adjustable size of decoration and other blocks (more than one tree should be selectable)
- Select multiple blocks to erase
- Sculpt the scene like in Mod Nation Racers
- Ingame tutorials

Blocks
- Every block can become a booster, checkpoint or finish (selectable with check boxes)
- Block that gently slows (Negative boost)
- Booster, which accelerates in both (or each) direction/s
- The speed of boosters should be selectable (eg. 125%, 150%, etc.)
- Mud block (if you're too slow, then you get stuck)
- Updates/Ingame downloads for well-rated, self-created blocks
- Pictures, videos and texts should be placed like blocks into the track
- Adjustable friction of blocks

Car-Editor
- Brushes for spreading sludge / rust on cars

Sound
- Better music
- Cars should have 6 or 7 gears
- Sound-mods for environments should be possible (e.g. to create a cartoon sound mod)

Just hopes …
- Small updates with new blocks
- the import of ingame plugins (to create small programs)
- That the grid system will eventually abolished
- Pro-editor with no boundary between the blocks and more stuff

and my personal wishes for the Editor:
- The possibility to press some key and get a rasterless editor. =)

That's a suggestion for all games, so I moved the topic to the maniaplanet section ;)

Heh, these are way better than the suggestions in the English forum.

As for visual car damage, custom models would be hard to implement, but I've had a solution to this for a while now...

In the 3D application, from what I know about making car models, there are different "layers" (or something like that :P) which tell the game what part of the car is glass, what part is wheels, details, etc. Perhaps there could be "door" layers, "hood" layers, "trunk" layers, etc. to tell the game where those parts are so they can pop open when you crash hard, like in the first TM and TMPU.

I miss car damage. ;)

Some excellent suggestions above. I just wanted to quote the following ones and say "Please do this!" These all seem reasonable and relatively easy to do...
Steelworks92 wrote: - When I click on S the game saves from the beginning of the map. The replay are getting very long then. It’s hard to cut them. The game should save from the last clicking on del (Not already fixed?)

Mediatracker

Editor
- Entire block sections should be draggable and changeable (to select the same image on every screen)
- Automatic camera changes (in loopings, ...) <--If you do this, please make it possible to disable. -pjw
- Location marker (arrow points to the finish) <--Same with this. Automatic is great until you don't want it. -pjw
- The digging of holes to create natural tunnels ("substract/fill" blocks that can be embedded inside the geology of the map)

Blocks
- Every block can become a booster, checkpoint or finish (selectable with check boxes) I don't agree with the "booster" part of this--it would be too confusing for the player to quickly see what was and was not a booster, and CPs and finish doesn't affect racing/handling. -pjw
- Booster, which accelerates in both (or each) direction/s
- The speed of boosters should be selectable (eg. 125%, 150%, etc.) Make these clearly different looking than normal boosters, to not confuse players. - pjw
Just a "me too!" on those. :)

Also, I'm not sure if this is what was meant by Steelworks92 on the first point under "Design", above, but it would be nice to recenter/shift/move your whole map when you're out of building room on one side.

The genreal idea is bad, but it would be awesome to allow (after pressing respawn) a booster effect, to make respawns faster.

do you mean a block that can be a booster depending on the speed of the car?

Adjustable friction or boost sounds terrible, you'll never know what to expect when you drive on any such block
