But I don't know what Cards have Shader 2.0 or above, i think DirectX9 Cards and above must have 2.0.

One of my team-mates is in the same position as you, and he said:
...The least thing I need is a graphic card supporting DX9 (at least Radeon 9600, I hope). I wish I could get a new PC.

wow thx for all this help :thx:

I'm not sure, but after checking a little, it seems like a GeForce Gigabyte 6200 might do the job ... although I'm far from being an expert and I'm not sure ^^
and maybe I might want to get a quality one so it lasts longer ... ?

Hm, the Problem is, that a Graphiccard is not the only thing that gets old over years. I bet the rest of the system is old too and when some thing can good brake down the power of the Graphiccard than a slow CPU. And when you switch this two, a new Mainboard is also needed and then you can use a PCI-E Graphiccard. ^^

Thats the problem: its cheaper to buy a new pc than bring the old one to a newer state.

For 31 GBP there are DX 10.1 AMD/ATI AGP Cards, they should be better than the NVidia DX 9 once. But i can be, that your PC never get out the complete Power of this Card.

I am also far from being an expert, but £88 for a gfx card that old seems awful value for money. I am sure you could buy a second-hand PC that will have a PCI-E board in it, a dual core processor and a half-decent amount of ram for not much more than that

see here for an example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Core2Duo-Syst ... 20bbec7766

cassis - it depends on your budget, and what you have already. Let's assume that your PC itself is too old and needs replacing. Do you have a decent monitor? what about speakers? What about other peripherals?

I am not an expert on any of this and I don't want to pretend I know more than I do - you are probably best off asking on a PC site, and looking at UK sites like dinoPC and Mesh computers for any deals. Good luck!
