New cars for TM2! Based on Fatal Racing/Whiplash

I first painted these cars during the Open Beta, and now they've been updated for release. These cars are based off of the late 90's PC racing game Whiplash, a spiritual predecessor to Trackmania--sporting the same crazy racing on insane tracks.
Description of each car based off of their Whiplash stats:
L'Auto Ariel: The French auto maker's four entries into the competition are known by the fact that they don't stand out from the grid. Average acceleration, average top speed, and a good all-around handling make these cars good choices for beginners.

DeSilva: The Italian car company specializes in engines that snap off the line and reach their top speed quickly. While their top speed is low, their quick acceleration means they can outdistance most of the pack early on in the race. If you're looking for a drag racer, this is the car for you.

Pulse Engineering: This fast, heavy machine is built by the Brits. Sporting a high top speed and solid ceramic brakes, this car is known for its ability to powerslide.

Global: One of the two American automakers, the cars built by Global are heavy and slow to reach their top speed, although once they do, they can outpace nearly every other car on the grid. Solid grip means no powersliding, however.

Ninjato: The Japanese company translated the specialization they were known for in street-legal cars, braking power and road grip, into racing machines. These cars stop on a dime and hug the corners like no other.

Mission Motors: The second American car company is average in most respects, but revolutionary techniques in air circulation through the suspension and wheelbase means improved braking power and a tighter turning radius.

Zizin: If you like getting sideways, then Zizin is the car company for you. The Korean company is known for its slick style of racing tires--which grant the car a high top speed, at the sacrifice of road grip.

Reise Wagon: The Germans love going fast, and the Reise Wagon is the ultimate expression of this. The biggest and most powerful engine that could fit on the frame was stuffed into the car, resulting in a beast of a car that takes forever to get going, but when it does, there's nothing that can catch it.

Hey! A pair of latecomers to the game, Zizin's KLR 330 and 440, the normal and "advanced" models, respectively. I didn't have these in the original upload cuz I couldn't find just the right texture for the "flames" (check the original cars and you'll see what I mean. But now, here they are in all their glory, so if you want them, come get 'em!

i was wondering how is the folder location for custom car, i would like to use my tmu car, i know about the crash not working but i would like to use it, with my other skins also when track making, buildings, cars, ect...thx for any info on this...

All right--many of the custom datas for Maniaplanet are found in C:\ProgramData\Maniaplanet (Win 7 path) And, within that, with a little exploration, you can find this:

C:\ProgramData\ManiaPlanet\PacksCache\TMCanyon.Zip
>> TMCanyon.zip\Canyon\GameCtnObjectInfo\Vehicles\CanyonCarDefaultSkin.zip

That's the SkinDiffuse.dds, DetailsDiffuse.dds, etc.

The custom cars go here.

C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\ManiaPlanet\Skins\Vehicles\CanyonCar

However, I'm unsure how to import a 3D model as I'm only a 2D skinner, sorry...

Try just looking under Skins/CanyonCar...as that pathname was from Beta 2 and has since been changed...

hmm weird the car is there when i open the game and i can pick it. w hen i go online car not there..when i go back to pick a car the car is gone..
so i close the game pick a car the car is there.. maybe a bug??? want me to make a new post for this
