Actually you're right. But if you would've played Forza and etc. for many years you'd know how comfortable this feels. Trackmania already feels kind of "plain" to me without gears, so I wanted my triggers :)

Now I think I will resort to normal buttons or wait for an XBCD update for Windows 7 maybe that will do. Never got XBCD to work with W7 so far.

for some games (maybe)! then depends on whether you have small or large fingers, etc! I for example (to TM) I can not! and map A to gas and X to brake... much easier on your fingers
why it is good, the alternative, choose our settings!

Because the triggers are useless in trackmania. Accel/brake is either on or off. You can't brake 20% or 50%, it's either 0% or 100%. With triggers, you're need to have it held down all the way to accel, and move the trigger a long way just to brake, which by then you're going to be braking too late. It's much easier to use one of the normal buttons, like A for accel and right bumper for brake.

Actually, the point at which the brake or accelerator kicks in is fairly early.

G2Wolf, It really isn't as hard as you're making it out to be.

I don't know how Canyon works, but Stadium actually had times where you needed to use the brake and gas at the same time: pressing the brake while in the air stopped your car from pitching forward after a jump. It also adds a different dimension to drifting, as you can get the car to slide around certain corners that you can't hit any other way.

I use a program called Joy2Key to map the triggers to the down arrow (for braking) and the horn. I use the X button for acceleration, and this lets me tap the brake while holding the gas down for cornering and air control.

Ideally, though, I would love to see the triggers act as separate analog inputs, rather than being summed together. Until then, though, Joy2Key is a great way to get the job done.

You do know that I have it working perfectly, right? Trackmania DOES have analog throttle implemented and it's actually nice in tracks where you have to brake.
