Post by eyebo »

Hi all! Nice to see you all here! Lots of familiar faces. :D

In case you're interested, a little about me....

Nick: eyebo
TM since: 2006 TMN (but only active in the community since early 2008)
Residence: Kansas, USA
Age: 28
-TM Teams-
Co-Founder of SFFN - since 1999
Member of TMX Towers Racing since April 2009
Member of void since 2009
Member of LT since April 2010

What I like about Trackmania:
  • The design. The simplicity and elegance of it. Apart from some bugs driving here and there (which you only know by driving way too much)... the game is brilliantly designed to empower me as a builder and driver to fully exploit the limits of my imagination and creativity.

The community. I don't believe there is a nicer gaming community anywhere else on the internet. The kind of folks you meet in TM... range in ages from 6 to 70 years old. You can meet people from all over the planet. Everyone is always so willing to help out if you have a question or need help doing something... like making a screeny for your track release on TMX or if you need help sorting through some replays for a video you want to do. There are a few bad eggs here and there... but in general it's definitely the best gaming community on the planet.
What i hope for in TM2:
  • New challenges - Many new people drawn to game... with new ideas and an infusion of new creativity into the game... with innovative tracks to drive.

Classic Authors Return - I also look forward to the return of classic authors like Panis, Pitstep, Nirvana, and others... even if just for a few tracks. I'd love to see what they come up with.

A More Refined Editor - An editor with a more simplistic but more powerful MediaTracker. The ability to move large groups of blocks at the same time and rotate entire sections of the track. The ability to flip a switch and unlock the limitations of the editor and place a block wherever you wish. (sort of an in-game blockmixing tool)

Bug Fixes & Fixes for obvious oversights - Fixes for oversights like the one in TMUF where you go to load a track from Windows Explorer while the game is open in the editor... and the game kicks you out of the editor without asking you to save the track you've been working so hard on for the past 4 hours. Also bugs like the ones that make your car fly really high in snow when you hit a jump... or in stadium where your car pops up on the rammsteins. I hope those are eliminated entirely.

Faster ManiaLink Explorer - ML Explorer needs a more powerful interface akin to a modern browser like Google Chrome.

Everyone is a Newbie - I really look forward to finally getting in on the ground floor on a new game. I've always been late to the party in previous installations of the TM saga.

Excellent Gameplay - To be honest, I'm not that stoked about having better graphics... I'm sure it will be cool... but for me it's all about the gameplay. The graphics can look incredible... and that's nice icing on the cake... but if the gameplay sucks... the graphics won't be enough to keep me playing. I'm sure Nadeo will manage to accomplish both. ;)

Name: ???
Nick: Boumsong
Tm since: 2006 TMN
Clan: CMC - Crazy Machine Chicks
Country: England
Place: Geneva, Switzerland
Age: 23
Occupation: Particle Physics PhD Student working on the LHCb experiment at CERN near Geneva. No I am not creating black holes!

What I like about Trackmania:
- The other people! Since I started all those years ago I've met many awesome people along the way. Fortunately most of them ended up in CMC with me now!
- Arcade, fun and team based action with the ET leagues. Inso has done a great job setting up ET, without it I wouldn't play TM. simple as that!
- TM is by a long way the game I have played the most... it is just so much fun to play with a team of great lads. CMC powa!!!

What i hope for TM2, SM and QM:
- TM2 is my focus, not really looking to get hooked by the others! Just want more of the same style, I think the roots must be kept the same. Hopefully a few less bugs, but we managed to find ways to dodge most of them anyway, right?

Well, don't know what to say now, eyebo's post is so good ;)

First of all: Helloooo to all familiar and (yet) unfamiliar trackmaniacs! :D

Nick: KekX
TM since: 2006 (Nations)
Country: Germany, Hesse
Age: 18
Occupation: just done my A-levels

What I like about TM:
- the fantastic community, the possibility to meet lots of people from all over the world
- the variety, every track / screeny / replay / server is unique
- lots of fun, offline (testing tracks) and online
- the possibility to organize and participate in contests and competitions

What I hope for in TM2:
- that it keeps my interest in TM alive like TM Nations and United have been doing since 2006
- what I really miss in TM is the ability to move large groups of blocks at the same time (what eyebo said)

QM and SM?
- might be interesting, but to be honest I get mostly excited about TM2 ;)

HI All,

Suppose i best join this site eh, alwlays good to see more TM style action :)

Here is the obligitory post,

Name: Jamie Macdonald
Nick(s): Jamie, Dis-Harmony, Wo.Otang!
Tm since: TMS (Late 2005)
Clan: dr-ukr (Digital Racers, UK Rockers)
Country: England
Place: London, UK
Age: 33
Occupation: Office Admin, Billing, Helpdesk, IT Maint, Tech solutions (Data, LCR, PABX)

What I like about Trackmania:
- The Community, Lots of friendly people, and not too much of the i-flame type (allthough enough to amuse, cough *xeph* )
- The Creativity outlet, As like "old style" PC gaming, You can not only make you own Tracks, but pull the game apart, not too locked away like some, skin anything, to your hearts content
- The Devs. Approachable, Friendly and willing to do the right thing for the community and themselves, still holding up to an "ideal" without deviation (and the only time the do "deviate" is when it's the only way to get to the end "ideal").. Mucho Kudos for Nadeo

What i hope for TM2, SM and QM:
- The others i will look at and will pass the time when we hit "burnout" from playing TM2 too much, but ofc TM2 will be the "Centre Stage" ...I hope for more of the same, with nice graphics, with the "opening up" of the 3d models ingame we do not need more, it is the perfect hub for the creative community, not much needs to change i guess 8-)

Well that's me, well enough of anyway, see you on track ^^

All right... :-P Suppose I'll add my post to the mix--

Name: Come on, you know better than to ask that online... ;-)
Nick: Forum--Trackmaniack. In-game: RedThunder
Age: 20
Clan: None, but thinking about starting one...
TM since: 2007 I think...06 or 07, anyway
Location: US of A, Iowa, Dubuque (look for the Mississippi river...you can't miss it  )
Job: Studying to be a PhD of Immunology (cure cancer, anyone?)

What I like about TM:
Like? Like isn't strong enough! :-P I LOVE TM in all its forms. But probably the one thing that I love the most about TM, as several other users have said, is the community. Its size, it's friendliness, and its openness and willingness to include a new user. My creations aren't anywhere up there with the likes of Crusard's, yet I've still had people offer to race and review, or look at a new skin I made, or something like that. :-)

What I'm hoping for the most in these new games:
Pretty much more of the same...I've played my fair share of multiplayer online games, and by and large, communities are closed-off, hostile, and downright venomous to new players...especially if they ask the wrong question they didn't know they shouldn't ask, or otherwise do something "bad". As long as the community stays huge and friendly, then you can count me in! :-D

P.S. As long as we're trading personal infos on here...I recently changed my hotmail. I was getting too much spam on it and decided it was time for a change. If any TMers want to IM me, my new hotmail is PhDWannabe@hotmail.com Hope to hear from you! :D

I'm glad i didn't close this topic in the beginning, as it has become a good one after all!

Nick: Knutsel
Age: 35
Clan: Intense Racing.
ManiaLink: ir
TM since: February 2006 if i remember well
Location: Near Paris, France
Job: Technician

What I like about TM:
-The endless possibilities of creating things.
-The community, where people accept others as they are, learning from people who have abilities and teaching to people who want to have them.
-Racing.
-Being amazed how people seem to find new ways to use the same old pieces to make something new over and over again.

What I'm hoping for the future:
-That the game evolves and the mania universe expands, without loosing the community feeling.
-That people in real live behave like most people in this community; with respect for others and always willing to help people that need it.
-That my teammembers and friends in this game have a good time!

I love the community there is, I love the limitless possibilities the game offers us. I am a really bad driver, but I still think it is a fantastic game, I love the game play of coast my favorite environment.

It would be fantastic if ManiaPlanet is a sucess, I realy expect a lot from ManaiaScript (especially Animations)
