Extremely hard to drive through loops?
So I was wondering why nobody puts loops in their maps and now I think I know! I was itching to try out the Canyong loops so I just built a test track with just a long straight and then a loop and MAN they're hard to get through! After some training I can get through them maybe 50% of the time but it NEVER feels clean as the car ALWAYS start to slide and a lot of the time I come out of the loop with my rear end first. It's like you can't steer the car at all while in the loop, is it really supposed to be this hard?

The first kind! See even the driver in the video (which seems good) slides through the loop! Seems impossible to go through without some drifting going on, just doesn't feel right..
I've had that strange feeling riding on walls also but it's like 10 times worse in loops..
edit: now that I think about it, the strange handling/sliding happens in both kind of loops it just isn't as big of a problem with the arena loops as some of them are straight and the one's that aren't usually allow you to turn your car the right direction before you enter the loop which isn't possible with the narrow first kind of loops.
The problem seems to be that handling of the car goes bonkers as soon as the car is vertical/upsidedown even when the centrifugal force should keep the car steerable.

Re: Extremely hard to drive through loops?
While I can see that loops in this game take more care to drive on than in any of the previous trackmanias, a lot of this is going to be dependant on the track maker designing the track so that you gain enough speed to make the loops and wallrides more manageable.
In past games, you still had to have enough speed to get through the loops and if you hit a wall or made a mistake that cut your speed you may not get through the loops either.
I played two tracks tonight for the first time with loops, I do not remember the names other than one was a Ganja track with the biggest loop I ever seen so far. In both tracks, as long as your line kept up your speed (which you had to do in the other games as well), I found having to have a little extra effort to maintain my line through the loop enjoyable and did not find them overly difficult.
So it may be an issue of track makers getting used to the speed factor needed when using those blocks.

The canyon deathloop is more luck based than anything because the racing line is invisible before you actually enter it, and scraping the wall causes you to crash.
The other loops are fine as long as you don't change direction. It gets much better if you go fast - just touching the road is not fast enough, you need to generate enough centrifugal force to push the car to the road.

I made a track with one of these in it. Numinbah if anyones interested
, ANYWAY, I think people put too many boosters before them. I oroiginally had one yellow before it but i took it out and it made it ALOT more playable. Also, turning in before the loop starts helps as well. They're great blocks if you use them right.

I guesss I just suck and need more training then..
I also noticed the difficulty of red boosters, first I tried with a red booster and then I went to fast to even try to steer then I tried the yellow booster and I started getting through however I still got skidmarks every single time I got through so I gotta ask you people who feels the difficulty is just right: are you able to drive through the death loops without causing skidmarks?

They are hard but thats what i like about them since drifting is easy and the game and a car are both felling very controllable i like that a loop is a bit hardSnakejuice wrote:So I was wondering why nobody puts loops in their maps and now I think I know! Re: Extremely hard to drive through loops?
It annoyed me at first too but then I thought like "how would it be to drive a car realisticly trough a loop in the real world?" Well I think this is a more close approximation than in any previous tm games...

Well Trackmania is an arcade racer so realism is not an important or even desired factor, when I'm in the mood for realism I just play Forza 3.
