360 controller buttons

I use a 360 gamepad on my PC which I would assume a large percentage of players will use. The button layout is fine, pretty thoughtless but OK. My issue is with the Help menu coming up every time I press the left steering stick to hard which registers a click down which brings up the menu a few times during each race. Needless to say this sucks and must also suck for many people. Racing this game is hard enough without this issue. It ruins nearly every one of my races.

There is of course an area to change the layout but after spending hours trying to make clicking the left thumbstick NOT bring up the menu I have given up. I understand this is Beta but really? No developers use the 360 controller?

Has anyone been able to solve this issue?

If you have the same issue please reply so a movement can be made for a quick fix.

Remap left thumbstick to horn or something useless instead.

Yeah just change it, although I have to say I don't want to know how hard you are grabbing your controller. I use a 360 controller and I only hit the button if I want to, you need to put a lot of aggression onto the thumbstick for it to "click".

I had the same issue as you. So after asking the cleverer people on this forum. I just re maped as the horn. Easy really tho I admit it was a little confusing at first.

You can remap the menu button to something else on the controller. I set it as the start button. You will just have to remap the menu key twice. The second time removes the thumbstick mapping (Button 8).

Thank you very much. This has been frustrating me to no end trying to remap buttons to keep the menu from coming up. Never thought I needed to remap twice to remove the original mapping.

Thanks, the mechanism for remapping the buttons is a bit odd but I got it remapped. You have to remap the buttons 3 times for it to cycle through and clear all the maps for that function. This is a clumsy section of the game that I am sure will be tweaked.

The game is amazing and I love the new driving physics.

Now if only I could figure out how to clear those dialog boxes that pop up on a server where it talks about the server, welcomes you, and gives an OK button to click to get rid of it. How do you click this button? I can never get those dialog boxes to go away and they put them right in the view of the race.

As far as I know, those can only be cleared with a mouse click; I don't know that it can be done with your gamepad.
If the mouse click isn't working, something is wrong with the communication between your client and the server.

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

I got an even bigger problem.
I use a wireless xbox 360 controller on my computer, with the official MS drivers, but in trackmania when using my controller i can only steer left, right doesnt work :/

When i go to my settings to change the input, and i click to change the steering (analog), the game will only register an input when I turn my analog stick to the left side or up (x axis and y axis) but when i i turn them right or down, the game wont register it.
So i tried it in dirt 3, and there it works fine. I reinstalled the drivers to make sure i had the newest, but that doesnt work.

Can anyone help? Is there anyone out there playing this game with the wireless xbox controller for windows who can tell me that it works?

Yes, works perfectly fine for me on two different computers.
