[ShootMania] Number of Players

Post by mikepurdy1234 »

just a suggestion
-single player maps vs computer npc bots (battlefield 2 has a 3rd party map maker that includes single player option)
-co op = 4 player v computer (seal teams, SWAT teams, small group of friends)
-multiplayer 4v4, 8v8, 16v16, 32v32, 100v100 (scale the highest number to the size of your base map)
-no player (just thinking outside the box, you could just watch the computer v the computer to test maps)

remember these are just suggestions
-if you don't like them, don't argue against them, just make your own suggestions

Single player maps (please put this in)

reason 1: the ghost town
-with 10 million maps that are going to be made, some people may not get to shoot anyone on a map
-there are user-created maps on other games that go unplayed (i call them ghost towns)
-in a racer you can race yourself, but in a shooter, if you make a map and no one comes... did you waste time?

reason 2: all games come with single player
-TM was not just multiplayer, you could race by yourself
-sometimes the fun is sneaking up on a guard and doing a silent kill
-being able to put NPC's in places where you need them to be in order to get that perfect video or picture of a kill
-storyline missions would be created in a way that a player could make a whole game (linking each map to the next)

reason 3: testing maps
-if you make a map and then publish it, you may find out that players don't go to that ambush spot you made.
-choke points and ambush points can be adjusted when you see a computer NPC can't fit in the hallway you made
-to see what happens when you place a mounted gun in a tower and can't get the right angle to a bridge
-if you don't have testers to help you make a map, you have to rely on NPC to see what will happen

reason 4: noob training
-if i am not good at shooter games, then I could try against the computer on easy mode
-if i am not good at shooter games, I will get turned off by being killed over and over by better players
-if i am not good at shooter games, then i can make maps that trap NPC bots on an island that I can kill a lot

reason 5: internet problems
-with no internet i can still play the single player maps that i create
-with no internet i can still enjoy the game
-with no internet i can wait till i get the internet back

This is just a suggestion (with reasons)
-I hope that the single player NPC bots are included, but after all this is just a suggestion

If you make a map with spawn points... all you would have to do for a single player deathmatch, is make it an option to allow NPC to spawn in if there are no other players. You could turn this option off to play with the exact number of players you have.

This would ensure equal numbers on both sides... even if there are NO other players.

This sounds like a great idea...the only question I have is that Nadeo's never coded AI before...now that they're part of Ubi this shouldn't be an issue--but I'll be interested to see what they come up with...

About the Number of the player allowed when the map is small or big This will maybe set in the server setting.
from 4players to 32players I dont think 100players on a map will be good for the fact you will have tomuch stuff to load and this will get your computer lag like hell and eat your bandwith.
I got the following problem I have a limite of 30GB of bandwith per month and I bet this game will bust it under 3 days of gameplay if we are allowed to play 100vs100.
But for the player vs computer in a mission I am with you all the way.

well you play with 32 player
i want the 100VS100. This will be a true battlefield. If something like that become reality i think that i won't get up from the pc for a few months after that...

They've already proven they have the server-power to race 250 ppl on one track...this shouldn't be so radically different...it will be a little more intensive based on the nature of the game of course...but not so alien as to be impossible, I would think.

Yes the server can support over 250 players but did your connection will support it there is the question.
More player we are more stuff we have to load.
I dont plan to wait an hours to play a match.
Also if we are tomuch player maybe the half of the player will lag like crazy in your screen.
I am up for the 32 VS 32 for the maximum player.

it is really different. We don't know yet what will be the right number of players. I don't think we should put a real limit, but the hardware and bandwidth limitations will probably set their own limit.

Personally, I think 16v16 at the absolute maximum is best - any higher, and I think it's just plain uncontrollable chaos (though unless the game has been designed for a higher amount of players?)
