360 dpad not working

Im trying to plauy tm2 with xbox 360 controller but im not keen on the anologue sticks. The dpad works, i can select menus with it ect but i cant seem to assign it to left or right. I have instaled the drivers from microsoft website but still no luck. Any ideas.

You must assign it to "Steer(analog)'' and "Acccelerate and brake (analog)" not the normal steer left and right

Doesnt seem to work. The dpad wont assaign to anything.
