[TM2] [LAG] annoying lag when in high popularity servers

So I experienced this since the first beta. When I am in big servers (with like more than 40 players), in each 5 seconds there is an annoying lag that lasts like half of a second. I am always running it on 80fps maxed out and suddendly this break comes up and messes up my driving. It is annoying and unplayable like this.

What I already tried and didn't work:

Limiting FPS to 60;
Checking new drivers for my graphics card (all updated);
Turning off firewall;
Messing with blur amount;
Clear cache;
Messing up with the internet bandwith settings.

If I join a smaller server, like 16 players, there is zero lag, so im assuming this has something to do with the internet settings from my game.

My computer is very good, it has nothing to do with it.

I have an i5-2500k and a GTX580. Plays TM2 smoothly at 80fps except when I am in big servers.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Is not a bug, the server you choosed has low bandwidth. That's all.

Its the widgets (Fufi Widgets, XAseco) which reload every 5 seconds... Only thing that helps here is pressing the "*" (star key) on numpad

I noticed lag increases when players increase. So I just click * while in a game and it will be fixed?

Edit: Worked, but I really don't like playing like this any other solution?

Update: It appears my laptop has the same problem.

Try setting max shown opponents to 16 or so (whatever you feel comfortable with), there is an option for it in the launcher, also try "Hide till close".

Doesn't work. It has something to do with the widgets because when it updates, it lags. (local/live rankings). When I click * it works, but I don't want to play like that.

It's a problem for all. You need to choose a server with an other server controller or without all interface.

I talked to other people in the same server and they have no lag. Also my laptop has no lag actually. I restarted it and it worked. Now my desktop, it still lags.
