mp3 converters needs a license, i think thats why it isn't used.
ogg works on allmost all players, and has relatively one of the less destructive compressions.

I think the game needs more music, i go crazy on servers where is no custom music, hearing the same few tunes all the time.
Still, the music ingame can be turned off and one can put on his own music....

Crazy, Ogg's have been around for a very long time (ogg vorbis that is)... i only know of them from downloading music though

As usual one format will be the new open royaly free kind, then someone will claim patent and rights, and then the whole lot moves again ... at least a majority seem settled on one format now ... for now at least, won't be forever eh.

But back ontopic, a spotify app would be pretty cool for those who use it (i myself do not), maybe thats a good idea for a plugin in future :D (dont think that would ever make it into game, but sure would be cool to have).

Thank you for the link, it seems like something that is going to get big very quick.
A very good legal alternative for illegal downloading.

But i don't see why it should be build into the new game as everyone can run it on its own pc in the background while playing.

being in the game makes it cooler and it will accesible from the game at the same time so no alt/tab to find the window and quickly change a song that you put by mistake in the playlist :P

Yeah ... I really like the TMO and TMS soundtracks ... really cool listening Hi-Jera , The Brit , Dan Money and many others while racing and i wish they will bring this music style again in TM2 ... :) .. When I listen these songs i remeber the good old times when we were playing TMO and TMS ... I replaced the TMU songs with the ones in TMO and TMS :D :P

Yeah i love the TMS music, too!
I still have these songs copied into my TMUF music folder.
Great times with those songs! I hope the music in TM² will be like that :D
