What you could do with FXCameraMap

Post by TStarGermany »

Image

Just make a snapshot of the whole track and replace it with a nice rainbow PNG

And this is just 1 camera map .. you could photograph it from 4 sides and insert the rainbow ... TM would then automatically mix rainbow textures depending on your viewing angle

I can tell you how it's SUPPOSED to work..

1. You insert a "FXCameraMap" track.
2. You fly to the location where the part is that you want to put your painting/image in
3. You press the SAVE SNAPSHOT button.
4. You open your favorite graphics program, find the snapshot in [PersonalFiles]/Media/Images/Cameramaps/ and edit it in the following way:
- Create a new object with your painting, place it in the screen as it should appear ingame.
- Delete the background, so that only your painting stays
- Save it as PNG with transparency.
5. Go back into the game and press (RE)LOAD SNAPSHOT.
Now the painting should appear at the desired location.

Bugs:
- Locators cannot be used for the cameramaps at the moment, so the whole thing is not useable for multiplayer/online.
- Depending on where you approach that spot, texture flickering occurs. Makes the thing look amateurish.

Is CameraMap still here in TM² Release version?

Yes, unfortunately, it is of no use, because of the bugs I listed... what a pity, it was a VERY GOOD idea to come up with that feature.

Thanks for the explanation. I still couldn`t use it even if it worked because of the absence of any graphical skills and programms(except paint :roflol: ). But would surely be a great tool for story tracks and such.
