Because (however sad that is) you pay for the service of playing online, they probably didn't want to complicate it so you can't purchase extra lan/online only keys.

It's actually kind of fair. But nothing I support as it's of course not fair from our view. However you can just do what that mod guy said.

Okay, so how do you play offline? Or LAN? Because I've tried everything I can think of, and if I don't connect at the login screen, then it says "Cannot update or install this titles files..." and, well, you know the rest.

It seems that you can play offline only using a MyDocs/ManiaPlanet and game dir that has previously be used online.

I'm confused by the three posts above

Is there some way to get this working or not?

Okay, so here's what I've found in terms of offline play. If you have already successfully connected once, as long as you don't screw things up :P you can connect offline as many times as you like. In all honesty this is the -strangest- DRM I've ever seen... <_<
1) First, you want to have a successful online validation at least once, like I said above. This verifies to Maniaplanet you have a legitimate account.
2) Either beat out the Master Server Check at the loading screen, or simply disable/turn off your internet service somehow for the duration of the offline connection--when you actually get into the game you can turn your internet back on with no ill effect, at least as far as I can see. (It's easier to simply disable your internet than to try to beat out the Master Server Check, especially for those with faster nets.)
3) If you don't cancel the check or disable the internet at this stage, at the next stage, after you select a profile and you get the error message -there-, then you have to start at step one again. I don't understand entirely how this works, but that's how it is.
4) If you've done everything else successfully up to this point, you should now be able to play offline. :) Hope this helps, everybody.
