While it is true that once one gets a gold on a platform track, one has achieved a perfect score, I don't think that the inability to improve on this diminishes in any way my enjoyment of having reached that goal in the first place. It plays differently to regular races and other modes in TM, but that doesn't make it objectively better or worse, just a different challenge that suits or doesn't suit different kinds of people. Platform was my favourite mode in TMUF, and I remain hopeful it will eventually make its return.Keras wrote:@maphios You are missing that to get the fastest time you have to make as less respawns as possible since each respawn means lost time. So if you get to the last spot 10 sec ahead of current rec you know you will have just this one try to make it. Actually in platform mode many people will have 0 respawns eventually which makes it kind of pointless to drive the track again.

Ehrm, Puzzle mode was a feature in every paid version of Trackmania...Keras wrote:Platform in itself doesnt need a own gamemode. Driving platform tracks in TA mode is just fine.
Puzzle was not part of Sunrise neither of United afair so I doubt it will (officially) come back. What they will most likely include in a future update is stunt and maybe also a real platform mode but thats not very important imo.
What I liked about Platforms is the fact that time doesn't matter at all to get the gold medals. And when you've managed to get the gold, you can still replay it to get faster times. And as paralipsis said; you may not like, but I appreciate the different mindset it requires.Keras wrote:@maphios You are missing that to get the fastest time you have to make as less respawns as possible since each respawn means lost time. I just checked and it really is in there. It must have been ages ago I last did that, totally forgot it xD
And it`s not that I dislike platform mode I just think it`s not very important. Stunt for example is much more important imo since racing on Stunt tracks in TA doesn`t make any sense.

Ok, I simply repeat myself here:Keras wrote:@maphios You are missing that to get the fastest time you have to make as less respawns as possible since each respawn means lost time.
Driving platform maps is more than just trying to be the fastest on a difficult map. It´s about mastering a map with all it´s obstacles in one run.
Here is a example for you what I mean:
Let´s assume a map with a CP after a jump and after this CP there is a 180° platform turn. When going in TA you simply would try to reach this CP with the lowest time possible. To do so you would just go fullspeed at the jump, jump through the CP (you car actually landing in the ocean) and do a quick respawn there just before the tight 180° turn.
In platform mode on the other hand you would have to adjust your speed before the jump, because you don´t want to be too fast at the jump to land in the ocean after crossing the CP. So you have to be careful watching your landing and your speed at the jump.
As you can see platform is more than just TA

Nadeo said only 0.5% of the buyers played platform and stunt.
I can understand them leaving it out, but I have no idea why they didn't give other modes a shot. They claim they want to focus on "pure racing", which sounds like a spin on "we have no other content". See also pure combat in SM and resulting limited weapon pool, etc.

I wonder if they are basing that on how many users registered official runs (and hence sent data back to the server saying that they were playing that mode) to come up with that statistic.EnaiSiaion wrote:Nadeo said only 0.5% of the buyers played platform and stunt.
I'm curious, because I was a really avid platform player, but I never got around to registering any official runs until I came back to the mode after having played it for a huge amount of time a year or so earlier. It was just not a game mode that seemed like it lent itself to that kind of play, and the only reason I did official runs later on as a means of a kind of soft-reset of my progress, starting again from the beginning.

Well maybe it's just me.. but i am dissapointed with TM2!!!
yes it was nice and differant for ...erm.. 3hrs.. but then it was tedious and boring..
the cars react like crap on some surfaces.. the cars have NO traction on loops , and there doesnt seem to be a great deal that builders have a lot to play with..
yes all updates are free.. but when we are told TM2 is gonna be released on XXX
let us have something to play with rather than an updated beta , with fuckall to offer.
ATM i feel like i have been swindled by Nadeo...
i don't want to wait for 6months/1 yr for updates to something i have paid for and feel like anything they do is something that we should be thankful for!!!
most games when they progress give FREE updates/patches to whatever they do , and feels like we have got a short deal from there progress to a new company..
so i guess bottom line is.. deal with it.. we'll realise something when we want to ,
thanks Nadeo.. that is just fucking awesome ^^
PS send me an email in 2015 when the game is complete ^^

If you like to wait till 2015 and play when Manialplanet is finished you can do that. I rather play now and watch the whole thing evolve
