Server map times

Post by Dataman100 »

I've done some searching and I can seem to find this information anywhere. Please forgive me if this has been answered already.

A group of friends and I have been playing TM2 on our own LAN. One of us sets up a local server and the rest join it. We download maps from mania-exchange and have fun racing against each other. On a lot of maps, the default time is so short that none of us can make it to the finish line before the timer expires and the map resets. Mainly this is because we all suck. :D We'd like to change the default time for the map to give us a chance to finish. I've looked everywhere in the editor and can't seem to find a time that matches the amount of time we're given to finish the map. Changing the medal times doesn't change it.

Is there a way to change this time? We don't care about medals or official rankings or anything to do with the rest of the world. We just want to have fun locally and try to beat each other to the finish. On most maps, someone's controller gets thrown across the room in frustration. ;)

Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Data...

When creating the server you can set the time limit in the box at the bottom. If you set it to 0 there is no time limit and the map only gets changed when you choose to do so.

there are servercontrollers with plugins u can customize to change the map time to a amount u can specify.

explicit i know it from fox control, but i think xaseco do also have this feature/plugin

(for example map time is 40 seconds, standard servertime is 3 minute )
in the plugin u can specify and say author time * 10 and give it a high aswell as a low limit
(minimum 5 minutes, maximum 10 minute or whatever u like)

I understand if you want to run a server that those options might be available, but what about if you just want to run it using the client - normal point and click setup? I don't see any options in there.

Thanks!

I can just repeat myself, it appears you didnt read it xD
Thats an ingame option no dedicated server software or anything needed.

Thats the ingame server creation window, I dont know how you can not see it but here it is:

The marked box reads "Zeitlimit" which is time limit in english. It`s the same for online and local servers.

I see what you're pointing at in the image, but I think that's only for Time Attack and maybe one other? Time Attack doesn't allow people to race against one another. What we really want is the ability to play, "Rounds" and just not have a timer. Laps is close, but not sure if that time has anything to do with it.

It works just the same way, you choose tournament mode (or whatever it is called in english) and set point limit to 0. There is no timer in that mode.
