I think a lot of people need to remember that this environment is not the same as old ones and having all the old track pieces will not fit in the same way. I can also point out that while you complain about the lack of bowl blocks, these blocks only appeared in island and in no other environment. By putting them in another environment you begin to depreciate the uniqueness of certain blocks when there could be innovation in new ones instead.
On the custom blocks topic. If no one really thinks there wont be a ton of poorly made blocks coming out of such a feature, they should probably wise up to what happens to when there can be custom content, no matter how hard it is to make models. If this feature is to be implemented it would be wise to have it more like a submission-validate-release system than a free for all .

I know for my own part, I don't expect to create gold with the block import feature. I would be very happy if I could just make a squared block with one texture work ingame. Then I would go from there.
I imagine it's a bit like trackmaking. Unless you are born with a super awesome trackmaking skill, the first track you make is likely just some straight lines and curves with no good flow. Then you get better as you make more and more tracks, and learn from seeing/driving tracks other people have made etc.

Re: [Canyon Blocks] Road split and road cross
All the reasons against such blocks suggested in this thread don't make sense to me. Its like "Oh, the Chef's don't see the point, so you don't either... end of line!". I think it should be up to the Player to decide what makes sense and what not.
There are so many blocks, blocks that were really needed in the old one, not in TM2. Why is that ? Either TM2 is supposed to be better or its not. But slimming things out doesn't make me like it more than less.
In TM i could just make streets cross, now I can't anymore. Where is the reason of that ? There is no reason that I can see. I loved TM and I really thought TM2 was supposed to beat TM by far, but all the limitations made in TM2 (important blocks missing, no air control, etc.) don't really make me like TM2 more than the old one.
But I guess thats what happens when Ubisoft comes into play. Its all about the money.
Too bad.
