Trackmania 2 doesn't work offline

Post by jeffreylb94 »

I use my account many times online, but sometimes my internet will go out. I load the game and go to the same profile and click play offline, but when I try to play the individual play, it won't let me select it. It will let me change the profile, but I can't play the individual play. How can I fix this? I'm not playing online, I'm playing single player...

You can't play Solo play offline, it's dependant on the internet due to skill points and records.
But you can play Local play or Editor offline.

It's nowhere near as bad as what Ubisoft put in Driver: San Francisco or AssCreed.... At least you can do local play without an online connection.

Skill points are only calculated (?) if i drive an official Race.
Records the same, are only submitted to TM Server when playing an official Race.

So i don#t see any reason why Solo Play shouldn't work offline.

It would be much more comfortable to use it in Solo Play, rather than always go on local play, going through the campaign Folders again and again if I change a map.
Also there I can't choose against wich Medal Time I wanna drive.

Medals placement needs internet connection.

Yep. Which is why Canyon is the first and last ManiaPlanet game I will buy until this insanity in particular is fixed.

It gets even worse, because you can't even train on campaign tracks using single map or a local server on your computer, because the tracks are buried somewhere in the game install and are hard to find. Usually, I've been told to download a copy of them and run them from my user map directory.

There's no reason TM2 can't allow offline solo-play, even with medal tracking, Nations Forever does it, so what's the excuse here?

TM² (and ManiaPlanet in general) is too much online-centric, IMHO :teub:
