how does one drift sucessfully in this game

i imagine its a dumb question cause im sure most of you are hard core race gamers. but for me i always hated drifting. i cant drive in real life so i never learned how. usually when i play a racing game i just take my finger off the gas and go but in TM@ its apparent to me drifting is a must have skill, so how is it accomplished do you

A. Tap the brake and release it while turning where you want to go?
B hold the brake while turning and then release the brake while coming out of the turn

please some pointers would be nice im having a blast with this game even though i suck and finish in last place. but i would love to get better and be a competitor for the other drivers

You just take a very very little tap on the brake in the turn,and never realease gas,unless the turn is so sharp that you have to

You should not compare tm to real life^^
When you tap the brake your wheels lock up and you start a drift, it doesnt matter if you do it before turning or after. Doing it before the turn is usually better since the car needs a little time to get to the right angle for the curve.

Also, if you're a keyboard driver, assigning brake to a secondary key on the left hand (assuming you drive with arrow keys on the right) will enable you to initiate drifts easier. I use the Z key. I think CTRL is the default secondary key for brake. But anything over there on the left hand will help. It takes a little to get used to, but it's much easier when you don't have to do so much with the right hand.

Another tip... if it's a fast and long drift... you're best to tap the arrow key to maintain the drift through a long curve.

Basically it just takes some practice to find what works. It's worth learning though. Drifting makes for a lot of fun. It's the main reason I play Canyon.

you had some nice replays here, ill go with mine but i think its not about doing this or doing that, its about how u fell it will work well for u and practice

i use the arrows(keyboard) and i have a second brake button on 0 (numpad) - i use my little finger(pinky) to press this button.

1. so if i wanna brake hard for a hard corner i use the down arrow and i dont press the accelerate button(up arrow).
2. if i wanna make a power drift (almost fullspeed - even if it isnt) with the accelerate button pressed and one of the arrows(depending on the corner - left or right ) i do a slightly touch on the 0 (numpad) button.

Track A05 is really good for practising drifting. It's just 2 straights with 2 180 degree corners that you do 5 laps of. So you basically have to do 10 successful long but fairly simple drifts in a row.

All TM versions especially Stadium mostly always were about DRIFT, so I refuse understand you, really!
