Erm, why is this section called "Tuning?"

Post by Trackmaniack »

I believe that kalimerre, you are responsible for the creation of this forum, yes? And thank you so much for it :thx: It's a wonderful, and much-needed and appreciated addition to our collection. However, as you are a Parisian, I'm doubting that English is your first language. While you have a remarkable grasp on it--I think this is one place you may have slipped up. Unless there's a new meaning I'm unaware of, Tuning means either: "Tuning" a radio to the station you want (or in the older days, a TV), or "Tuning" a car, either the engine, or the gearbox, or anything else that can be tuned to higher/better performance. I'm unaware of a definition that could relate to user-created screenshots/videos. :-? Maybe this section would be better-named as the "Filmroom" or some such...just an idea. But this is a wonderful thread, and thanks for this :D

It's not Kalimerre who choose the name, it's Cerovan . I think it's because it's the same name in the french forum (http://trackmania.com/fr/forum)

We need to rename this. Tuning is one of the reasons why TrackMania is so damn good

I called the forum with this name because it's an old tradition now but if you have a better name i have my ears wide open ;)

I agree, what about something more straightforward "movies", "media files", "theater", "Tubes", "Popcorn"
I also think that tunning doesn't fit either in french. Tunning is for car paints and custom car skins. Tunning Trackmania is adding gadgets to it, it's making it run better, it's about launcher configs, etc...
But that's my personal view :D
