[Suggestion, Blocks] Smoothing edges / multiblocking.

Post by Esa91 »

Hi there!

I've been spending a lot of time in the editor, and must say I really like it as it is.
There is however, room for improvements!

One thing that struck me after a while, is that some blocks are awesome together, but from a little different angle than the one where they fit perfectly, they're not that good. Being able to smooth out edges on some blocks would allow for some fun, quite much. This wouldn't be possible to achieve on everything of course, now I am mainly talking about these "cement chunks".

Another thing I was hoping for, is something I suspect has been suggested before, which is multiblocking. For instance, a block that is only using up 1/3 of it's height, should not take all that space. Having a tube doing a lowpass over a road should be possible to achieve, or having a road below a road that has just started it's ascension uphill.

Thanks for reading. :)

That would be work, and we know Nadeo put all resources on Shootmania instead of Trackmania.

Wait for community made blockmixing tools, then you can do all of this yourself. :)

Maybe NADEO forgot what Game brought all the people together. That was in fact Trackmania. So now to put all the resources on something else will only ruin the fanbase they try to get into TM2. I personally will continue building & driving for TMU because in TM2 most of the "crazy" and "mania" stuff is gone. Sad.

Nadeo works on TM² and SM actually. We will have other update after and when SM will be ready, we will have some new features for SM and TM².

What people seem to forget is that TMUF isn't a dead game by any means. To use an example from another comment of yours, wolfseye, how many people still play BF2? Myself among them.

I know, i still play it myself. BF2 and TMUF. But since TM2 is the successor of TM, I wonder if they were actually interested in getting as many of their fans to also play/buy TM2. With all the changes, to the worse I have to say with many, its unlikely that this will ever happen. You are right, TMU ain't dead. With the few things I can do in TM2 compared with TMU, I still need to continue making maps for the old one if I dont want to loose some of the things I am used to in mapping.

Look, I'm not going to continually argue he said she saids with you until the cows come home. Because we could. But I'm going to make the same point I've made time and time again, in various forms. Everyone here has too much of a "small-picture" idea of what TM is. TM2 isn't the whole package, by any means. It's merely the first piece of the puzzle that is Maniaplanet. With each release comes new content, and Nadeo has told us that the new content isn't simply going to be exclusively for the latest title...they're going to fix, mod, patch, and add on to all titles as time goes on.
